I'm wondering the same...
Quote:
1. One model year newer - helps with resale down the road 2. Pending E90 facelift changes that might (however unlikely based on past history) make it to the M3 3. Possible build fix/changes from '08 model year kinks 4. Color choice changes 5. ~4 more months to save cash for the car Of course waiting for an '09 will also entail: 1. Any '09 model year price increases 2. Waiting ~4 more months to get our new M cars!!!! I'm just going to keep reading the rumor mills up until my car goes 111 and then make a call then on whether or not to put my order on hold. Right now I'm leaning towards taking the '08 although I'll admit it's only because I'm dying to have it, which is not a very good reason!

If it pushes much past August, I will just wait for the 2009 model.

One more data point to add to the group, but I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he said that my sedan with DCT has been accepted by the system and has been assigned a week 23 build. I believe this is the week of June 2. I have been told all along that I am first on the list for an e90 with DKG.
I really tried to quiz him about whether he was correct or not, and he said he was looking at a printout that had every option with its code listed, and he read off the DKG option (2MK I think). He did not mention status, but I assume it is still 037. He did say status would update and options would need to be finalized about a week or two before build. |

I just spoke to my dealer. His latest M3 allocation is week 21 and he can not select DCT with sedan for that slot. He also claims that he spoke to his contact at BMW NA and was told that DCTs for sedans might get pushed to July at this point.
I asked him whether it makes sense to just wait for a 2009 production in september? He said he thinks that M3's produced in September will still be 2008's just like it happened with the 5-series. He thinks 2009's wont start production until next spring. Is there any truth to this? Do we have definitive proof that 2009's will start production in September 2008? |

I will be at my dealer tomorrow getting a windshield replaced on my 335. I will talk with the sales manager and see if there is anything to add. As I said on another post, I was told October 2009, so if the car won't be delivered till late August, I will just wait. In fact, I am debating to do the Dinan flash on my 335 tomorrow because I am SICK of waiting for the M3!
My second issue is that this last winter in Utah was brutal. I need an alternate AWD to use as a snow commuter on bad snow days. So, I may even wait till next Spring if delivery date is pushed back anymore.
