Wheel Vibration Issue: Advice from Steve Dinan

A PROPERLY CALIBRATED RF balancing (with a properly calibrated operator) should do it but these cars ARE really sensitive.

I had a ft vibration in mine and had both fts rf balanced; one was perfect, the other tire was close enough it was not rotated but was ONE-HALF once out of balance. I can't believe I actually felt that small an amount but, voila!

Rd Force balance fixed a vibration issue for me too.

Got my car back from the dealer and the result is unfortunate.

They claim the occilating bassy hum I hear from 70mph+ is from my modified oem exhaust (which it isn't since I have experienced the bass before I modified the exhaust). They claimed to takes stethoscope to the car while running. They checked the wheel bearings, as well.

The vibration I feel at the same speed interval they claim to be the tires out of round. They checked the wheels for bends as well. Again, the tires were brand new when I was experiencing the vibration (since i purchased the car 14k miles ago) and the vibration has been experienced the whole time.

Weak sauce.

Sorry for reviving an old thread.

Biggynuts01 has a good point about the problem coming and going after making turns.

I've been plagued by this problem the whole time I've had my second e90. I have it with both the stock wheels and my RG63s. It is related to how the right and left side tires interact. I just finished 500 miles on the PA turnpike after my second thorough RF balance. At 75 mph the car can be smooth as silk. As the road turns I can feel the vibration come back and it stays until the road either turns more in that direction or the road turns back towards the direction I was originally traveling in. This is driving me nuts.

Joe, I've been getting the same issue with OEM 219s and my 19" RG63s. Perfectly balanced, no issues there, but will get shimmy at 80mph or so. Same comments about turning impacting whether it stays or goes away. I don't get it...
