Ordered E92 M3.. A few questions
Ok so I ordered my 2011 E92 M3 about a week ago. Just like everyone always says, the wait is killer I'm coming from a couple of E46's and have now finally made it to the point where I can order a brand new M3!! Very excited and I cannot wait.. Unfortunately I am getting the car in the winter and am not looking forward to driving a new car in the snow ..
Anyways my specs are as follows: Alpine White (Yup another one!) 6 Speed Manual Black Novillo Leather Competition Package (Must have IMO) Convenience Package Cold Weather Package Moonroof Carbon Leather Interior Trim Onto my questions, 1. Upon finding out that 2011's now don't come standard with power seats, I have decided that I want the Premium Package as well. How late into production can I change my order? 2. Tracking my car on BMWUSA, I put in my production number and all the specs are shown on the page just as I ordered them. However, the competition package is not listed. The picture of the car show's it with ZCP wheels. Anyone else have this? Last edited by UKtRAINE3; 12-06-2010 at 05:44 PM.. |

I think you can change your mind at virtually any time, but keep in mind that it will likely delay your order process.
In terms of the website not showing the right options, that is very normal. Just confirm with your Client Advisor (dealer) that they have the right order in and you'll be fine. The website is often WAY off.

Don't worry the car can handle snow just fine, put on snow tires and you will be lovin' it.
I wish I could have ordered my '09 without power seats, they are heavier and take longer to adjust, but on the plus side they have memory settings that help you sit in the exact same position at all times.

Has your dealer given you a production date? Or what does the 800# say about the car. Once it is in production you cannot change the order. If you really want the PP2 then you may have to reorder.
And yes, the website did not show the competition package on my order, just the wheels. Your order is fine...

Spoke with my CA earlier, seems that my car went into production last week and it's not possible to add or change anything at this point.
Is this true or is my CA misinformed? He's speaking with the sales manager to see if there's anything we can do. Waiting to hear back. |

Your CA is correct. What happens next is up to the dealer. They can simply take your first order and use it for dealer inventory, allowing you to re-order or they can try and make you take your original order. If they try to make you take your original order you can walk away though that will likely ruin any relationship you had with that dealer, forcing you to work with a different dealer.

Most states have laws ensuring you get your deposit back. As I said, that dealer may choose not to order another car for you given how you backed out on the first order (if that's what you do!). Looking over your initial order, should be a fairly easy sale from dealer inventory so hopefully the dealer will go that route and let you re-order. Have they not called you back?

I would say that they have to do more work so they normally just say no but this is just based on my personal experience only. Good luck.

Haven't heard anything back from the dealer. BMW NA is closed today in observance of Thanksgiving. I'm going to try to speak with them on Monday to see if anything can be done.
I'm kind of pi$$ed at this as well, looking through the 2011 M3 brochure it shows that power seats are standard. |

So my car is in the body shop with an estimated completion time of tomorrow Nov. 30th.. Spoke with my CA and BMW NA and they can't add the PP2 at this point in production. I asked BMW NA if they can do goodwill and install only power seats once the car arrives and they told me it's up to my dealership if they'd like to do that. So now I guess I'll call them. Wish me luck!

Dealer says that it's impossible to add only power seats. They said that the wiring is different as well as computers etc. They say they spoke with BMW NA and BMW told them that it is not possible to install power seats if the car came without them..
Anyone have any input on this? For some reason I think that everything is pre-wired and all I need is the power seats. |
