About to get cold!

Its about to cool down here in the desert. So my car generally feels more powerful when its cool/ cold. I know its due to denser air and more complete combustion of fuel. Does anyone know what if any HP gains come from this?

You will absolutely see HP increases with cooler air or lower altitudes. Enjoi.

Basically as the air gets cooler it gets denser. Cold dense air carries more oxygen than warm, humid air. Small V8 high reving engines like ours come "alive" in colder weather.

I dont know that you will necessarily see "gains" as much as see less loss from the normal heat.

I just hate the heat and humidity of the South, looking forward to cooler, dry air

Come to Canada. Plenty of cold air up here. Heck we are just a month away from -20C.

Forced induction suffers even greater power loss than normally aspirated engines when the air is hot. There was a recent Top Gear that panned the new Porsche Turbo until they took it out at night and it was a beast.

Sucks that we drive M3s with effectively less than 350hp. Although I have noticed the typical benefits of the cooler Fall weather.

Yep.. assuming the S65 makes what.. 360hp at the wheels? Means about 320hp in Rockies/Foothills. Assuming ~3500ft.
