Good Bye M3
So, after a long decission making time and pain with self, I broke down and decided its time. Currently undergoing paperwork. Selling my 09 M3 coupe... for a 2006 blue M5.... Reason being. Its only got 7k Miles on it. And that is in my opinion a deal I could not refuse. Hell, the car has way less miles than I put on my car so far. lol. So yeah. There you have it. Comments a welcome. Please. I would like to know what you think. Good and/or bad. Hope more good than bad... lol. Here is a sample of what awaits me when I come back from leave. Currently in Korea.

Enjoy your new car and thanks for serving
I just traded my Z4 35i for a M3 e92 2011. The Z4 was nice, however the RFT are a nightmare also I lost 2 rear wheels to cracks so never again RFT they are much to stiff. Perhaps in 2012 the M3 will come with RFT like all others who knows. As for your M3 I too sold my M3 (was a e46) last year in the spring, I missed it ever since so here I go picking up my M3 in a couple of days. Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

Beautiful M5, but I would have tried to trade into a newer (08 or 09) M5. Not to alarm you, but I have read a few comments suggesting reliability issues on M5's from '06 and before.

M3 for sure but I'm not much for sedans, though I've had them (not by choice).
The new M5 should be coming soon. I'd rather have the newer model of almost any car. Nonetheless, a nice car. I also thank you for serving in the military.

Keep an keep eye on the maintenance, like everyone points out, since it's an 6 year old car, other than that, great switch (personally I enjoy the more nimble M3), as long as you enjoy it, it's all that matters. The high revving V10 has great top end, I'm sure you'll grow to love it soon enough.

Congrats........ I LOVE the E60 M5. Would have been my first choice if I could have found one I could afford. As far as it not being very nimble.......... watch some of the ring taxi videos and correct yourselves. Very nimble for its great size.

Good trade...
I went the other way around... I traded my '06 for '08 M3 when it first came out. Just be careful about the tranny, that is the only thing I can warn you. Otherwise, it is a great car par none. I do miss the exotic exhaust sound from times to times. However, I don't miss 1/2 tank a day kind of deal. Though, my wife liked M5 more because of the comfort on a long road trip. Enjoy the car! |

wow, fantastic trade! I think the M5 is one of the best GT cars of all time!
Personally, I would have waited until the new M5 came out then pick up a E60 M5 when people start upgrading, by that time maybe the price will be right for an 08 model, and you'll have more warrenty under your belt? |
