OEM Exhaust Mod & Test Pipe Experts (Video)
I've been researching exhaust options and came across a video of what is written up to be the OEM exhaust mod (perforated pipe method) and turner test pipes. Sound loud, but pretty good. I've read that this combination may rasp or sound horrible. Does anyone have any experience in this combination or have heard in person. Another route I am looking to go is a Dinan or Akra axle back + test pipes. These two axle back's combined with test pipes appear to be a little more quiet and refined. Any experience or knowledge is appreciated.

There's someone on here who has OEM exhaust mod with test pipes and they posted videos. It sounds amazing probably one of the best setups I've heard for the price

Yes, but only a little bit(2K-3K rpm) due the Helmholtz chambers of the Oem. exhaust ,and will drone more with any other after market exhaust !
With only the Oem. exhaust mod. without test pipes 0 drone ! BTW...depends also of what kind of Oem.exhaust mod . 1- Replacing the 2 big perforated pipes (by 2 full pipes) 2- Straight through method (also called ACM method) With # 1- less of drone ! >>>http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=733817

I had the oem exhaust mod (two pref pipes replaces) and test pipes. The car is stupid loud, i liked it at the start but it really started to get annoying when trying to have a conversation in the car. When you give the car any amount of throttle you will hear rasp. If you like rasp then do it but it really isn't that pleasant after a while. It didn't seem to drone much for me at least for my ears but everyone is different. It is fine when at cruising speed however. I had it two weeks and put on a UUC Corsa axle back. Any other questions I will gladly try to answer.

How much of the loudness is due to test pipes and how much is due to OEM Exhaust mod?

Wouldn't recommend it. While it sounds good at startup, it's not something you would want every day (very loud).
Best to pick either one or the other. Of course, that's up to individual taste.

Don't know how to really split it up, but when you put on test pipes it just makes the car loud with an almost different exhaust note because of all the rasp. If i had to try and make a number up for you it might be 2-3 times louder with test pipes but that is just trying to put a number on it for you.

I have acm test pipes and acm oem exhaust mod. My only issue is that I'm addicted to the sound. I find myself wanting it LOUDER!
Best mod I have done yet. And IMHO....sounds way better than any Akra I've heard. |

I have the ACM TPs with MPE and it is louder than usual and after 3k rpm it begins to rasp and then screems. The increased loudness on a daily basis is liveable but as I get older it might change and might look at an Akra set up. But the power delivery with TP and BPM Stage II is insane. I drove in normal mode with BPM stage I and I continue to do so with stage II but the power delivery is a different kettle of fish now. And with sports+ it just loves to accelerate it's addictive.

It's a stretch, but do you happen to have a video for comparison? The video I posted is the only representation I have been able to find anywhere of this combination.

This is just IMHO. I like loud, but there's got to be quality to it. It can't just be loud for the sake of being loud, which IMHO, that's what ACM + TP was. But of course, exhaust sound is so subjective.
