dsc malfunction
need some insight here please....a few weeks back I had a dsc malfunction. Shut the car off, dsc malfunction goes away car feels normal. Took it to a shop, no codes show up. They run several tests, nothing. I left the shop, 30 miles away the car throws the same code dsc light malfunction on the display. I had a bt scanner, run the codes take it back to the shop.
This was the scan results... Engine / Motor Fault: Idle Speed Control Valve Monitor Bank 1 Code: 2B0D Fault: check at lower top Code: 2B57 ABS / DSC / Brake: Dynamische Stabilitaets Kontrolle / DSC Fault: Torque 2 missing message PT-CAN Code: D355 Fault: Torque 3 missing message PT-CAN Code: D356 Fault: Torque 1 missing message PT-CAN Code: D354 Fault: Engine torque is not adjustable CAN Code: 5E19 The idle surges a little with the ac on..and given the above reading the idle control valve was changed. 3 days later it starts again these are the results from the latest scan. Engineering / Motor Fault: Idle Speed Control Valve Monitor Bank 1 Code: 2B0D Fault: check at lower top Code: 2B57 Fault: Activation EV4 Code: 2B55 ABS / DSC / Brake: Dynamische Stabilitaets Kontrolle / DSC Fault: Engine torque is not adjustable CAN Code: 5E19 5E19? Any ideas what that might be.... A little back ground, 2008 M3 6mt AA with meth. The car was hit recently right on the rear right wheel and the rear right control arms were changed. Maybe a wheel Speed sensor? Thanks in advance for your help |

Idle valve control going is not at all uncommon. DSC is tied into into throttle control so I guess it's possible it could throw a DSC code. I know what you are thinking, wouldn't that throw an engine code if it's screwed up enough to cause a DSC code? Not necessarily based on the history of the idle control valve being really shot on some cars and STILL not throwing engine code.
I would check in this order: 1) idle value controls 2) rear wheel that was hit What I can't tell you is how much the diagnostics will cost you out of warranty. My friend is a good Master Tech at my dealer so PM me the list and I will hit him up to see what his experience tells us as far as difficulty of diagnosing and talk with my SA and SM (very close with everyone) to get you some estimated DEALER rates and what BMW pays on a job like this IF UNDER WARRANTY. Like I said, PM me. Cheers, e46e92

Thanks for the info folks. Still trying to sort this out. crimson49er, do you know what codes your car generated? The idle control valve was changed already and it's still generating the code.
