Missing tools!

So I just found out I'm missing my emergency tools! I should have checked it out sooner, since I've had the car for a few weeks now. Good thing is I also just got my customer satisfaction survey and I mentioned this in there and how I was pissed and they said they'd replace any missing tools. Anyways, the other question is for you guys, how many miles did you get your cars with? I got mine with a few more than expected and I also brought this to their attention, but the dealer assured me that it was normal. As the dealer states:
Quote:
I emailed the port (where the vehicles come in from Germany) to inquire what the average miles a vehicle comes into a dealer and this is what was replied " ...the cars get driven off a boat and onto a train. Then off the train and through the process. The average mileage is anywhere between 4 and 10 miles." I hope this assures you that there was no unnecessary miles put on your vehicle by our dealership.
I doubt he actually emailed them, and I think he's feeding me B.S. so I can quiet down and not bad mouth their dealership, so I'd figure I'd ask here to see if this statement is correct, and how many miles other cars had at time of pickup.

What were you getting done at the dealer?
Unless they are performing a service bulletion or resolving a specific issue you reported about your car, there is no reason there should be additional milis since you dropped it off.

Next time, clean out your car before taking it to any dealer.

Mileage up to 10 miles is quite normal from new IMO.
I can't imagine what interest the dealership would have in your toolkit....UI suppose its always possible the kit was missing parts from the factory.

I wasn't getting anything done, this was when I first picked up my car. And you say clean out my car? I shouldn't be afraid of losing my emergency tools out of my car when taking it in for service, that's unacceptable.

All I had was the screwdriver, not that I really care about the toolkit or anything, as if I'm ever going to use it... but just the principle of shit missing out of my 70k car aggravates me

You shouldnt have to be afraid taking your car for service, but shit happens. Best to take everything before taking it for service. Less to worry about. Ive had family member's Ipod disappear into thing air at my local BMW dealer ship.

If you were picking up your car for the first time, you CA is the one that has to provide you with the tool kit, book, Ipod cable, wheel lock, etc. Most of the time they wont put them in, since anybody can just take them.

So did you see them and then they disappear, or you never saw them?

When I bought my car they sort of put it together from other cars, where they got them from? who knows.

But I would say it doesn't come with much but the tow hook screw driver and the other two wrenches and the M mobility kit

If you're looking for a jack and sunroof crank and the tow hook that goes in the trunk side liner than you won't find any of those. It comes from the factory incomplete for M3 spec....so you might not be missing anything.

You should have complained earlier with the car's mileage before picking it up or refuse to take delivery. I think 10 miles is fair enough unless you took the ED that will show 0 miles.

Never saw them, and I think its ridiculous that you have to be worried about losing simple parts when taking your car in for service.

Yes, I know, but in the end it seems the mileage was alright

Unless you BOUGHT the tools yourself, your car should only come with the screwdriver and the tow hook (and the compressor and 'goop' under the 'spare' cover, of course). I bought the rest myself. Hope you're not accusing dealer of theft without knowing tools are not included .

And you should be specific in your posts. Never stated how many miles your car had; 11 is not the same as 40, and everybody has a different definition of a 'few'. Mine had a few more than yours for sure (590, to be precise, due to driving it rather than transporting it from another dealer). Take care.

Well, its Perillo a lot of people go in and out of there. They leave the cars on the 2nd and 3rd floor by the preowned vehicles when they're there waiting for service

Not necessarily just the staff can take your things, customers wandering about and people that go to that gym inside the building could steal your things as well.

Always take out everything including trunk and the iPod cable in armrest radar, everything when dropping it off

Well all I have is a screwdriver so therefore I am missing tools and I'm not accusing anyone of theft, only of not acknowledging. That the items were missing

I think I've read cases other than elp_jc's where it's basically hit-and-miss on what tools are included. At the very least, you should have a tow hook.

I only have the tow hook, and the screwdriver. I figure the wrench should be included too since it should be used for the battery, but maybe not.

I got screwed over with the mats too. They gave me regular "BMW" mats and stated that the M3 Sedans bring those. I figured "what the heck" maybe they're being honest. Figured out they were lying later.

Just make sure you got the wheel-lock lug tool. My SA put it in my tool box. It's only about nickel size.

Let me read your title: 'DEALER STOLE MY TOOLS!'. That sounds like accusing them of theft to me . If you regret your choice of words (apparently the case), ask a mod to change your title man.

Believe it or not, mats are NOT standard on the M3. Not even the regular ones, so you did well . Having said that, most dealers include the 'M' mats with the deal, but they're crap IMO (no heel pad). Sold mine for a song and bought the all-season ones from the regular E92. Take care.

Pete just relax. The mileage doesnt matter, and i only have the screw driver and hook too.

You guys would flip out if you saw how fast cars get unloaded at a dock. They floor it from boat to parking spot - usually about 1-2 miles. The car "runners" get paid by the car.

You dont have to worry about a few early miles on modern cars imo.
