I went ahead with these for new summer wheels, putting stock 18s to winter use. I had been planning to order a set of lighter japanese wheels but realize that I am too heavy a driver for my wheels to matter much on a fully optioned car on the street. The money saved can get me an extra set of tires. These will be better than my all season winter wheel weights anyway. If I ever track I'll buy a square set of 18s in something lighter, perhaps.

There may be a quality control problem with this product. I opened mine up today and found 3 of the 4 were blemished or damaged. There were bubbles in the paint on the rears and one of the fronts was shipped upside down so it looks like it was curbed (the foam packing was protecting the inside rim). A couple looked like either someone had already tried to mount a tire from the rear or they were slid around on a rough surface.

Wow...that's not good to hear. Hopefully this was random lousy luck! I'm sure Evan will make it right though...

They will take care of it. It was just disappointing to see. I drove across town to get them in holiday traffic, but only inspected one of them when I picked them up. I don't plan to actually use them until Spring, so its more disappointment than inconvenience.

So, I tried to clean the front wheel that had been scraped around the rim and it was definitely damage, but very minor. I'll have to look into how to buff or polish matte paint. It seems like these are only matte because they don't have a clear coat. The surface is a little rough between the spokes, just right to be a brake dust magnet. In that case they are going to be an ugly mess sooner or later anyway.

hmm I'm holding out on my order until I hear some positives about these wheels. Are these the exact wheels that ship with the GTS? Why would they be so rough without any protection coat?
I'm sure we would all appreciate your updates and any additional feedback for those considering a purchase. Thanks! |
