what you paid is fair, if your not in a rush then wait like the others said and once people can't get them you know how it goes you want what you can't have lol
if your in a rush then you may have to deal with the lowballers unfortantly

Michael,
Here's what you do: 1) Take down this listing for now. 2) In about 6-8 weeks everyone will be posting pictures of their newly acquired RG63 wheels, in between all of the high fives and flowing champagne, in the second GB thread. 3) That thread will be full of new people asking how they can get in on the party. 4) Most will be devastated to know that one simply does not purchase the RG63 at a store or through a web site, and that the ship carrying said wheels has, in all likelihood, sailed (forever). 5) You come into the picture and reply with the fact that you have an extra set for sale. 6) ??? 7) Profit. 8) I get 15% of the net proceeds. You're welcome.

Both these RACs and the P40 are forged, but the RACs are 8T forged vs. 4T for the P40s. I believe the P40s also weigh 4-5lbs. more per wheel. HREs are also more expensive, and you're paying for a prestige name. RAC has a long history with BMW-M cars, and they did a highly regarded version for the E46 M3. They also did an incredibly light racing wheel for the Lotus Elise/Exige. By the tech specs, these RACs are superior, and meet the highest certification standards in the wheel industry (JWL). However, there's no question HRE monoblocks are also quality wheels. Google Champion and Neez wheels, to learn a little more, and keep in mind the RACs are made in the same factory with the same process. If you're at all interested in learning how the RACs came into being, here's 177 pages of reading material that will keep you busy for awhile. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=RAC

RAC vs. HRE
Quote:
Here is a link with a detail discussion of after market wheel manufacturing by Lemans Blue M. He was addressing Dinan wheels vs. HRE specifically, but he talks about TANEISHA in detail and states that they also make the RAC wheels: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...3&postcount=14. NEEZ, CHAMPION, OZ RACING, Dinan, and RAC MONOLITES wheels are top of the market high performance wheels. HRE wheels are well made and very effectively marketed. Edit: foosh beat me to it. Oh well! You notice, we say pretty much the same thing.

There is an Element of Risk
Design, materials, and construction of the wheel make them very resistant to damage. If one is damaged it will likely be bent and be readily repairable by straightening. Shep does have a few extras if a wheel can't be repaired. Buried in the group buy post Shep has addressed repairs. I recall that he said that only one wheel (or possibly 2) of all those has designed and sold (as RAC's) has been so damaged that it could not be repaired.

It's pretty easy to destroy the run-of-the-mill stuff that's often offered advertised on this forum. Many don't understand what they are buying when making wheel choices, other than whether they look good or not.
