RPI - just read through 20+ pages

So I read through 2 different threads here and it took almost an hour!! I am thinking about buying 2 RPI "for sale" items which should add up to an RPI GT Full Exhaust (V2).

It seems like the chatter died down a lot and I couldn't find out if some of the issues were really resolved in the end.

With the V2 pipe - does the exhaust still have that ringing sound? Last posts I read mentioned that people were still getting the CEL unless they got the RPI Powerchip tune, any input from people who have this system?

RPI certainly sounds like a top notch company with great people - I really want to get this setup but I am very turned off by that ringing sound I hear in some of the video's. I would love to hear some honest opinions from those folks who have the system with the V2 X-pipe. I dont mind the "loud", I just dont want that ringing or any bad rasp.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

I hate that ringing sound in the RPi exhaust!!! Its very annoying.

If you want one of the best sounding and performing exhausts go with Gintani. I have heard many M3's with exhausts and Gintani's systems the best made, performing, looking and sounding exhaust for the E9x M3's.

man, only one reply??? Help a guy out here! Hahahaha. I know Gintani is awesome, I would just like to get something a little more affordable and with the 2 parts for sale right now I could essentially built a full RPi GT Exhaust for a great price.

The guy that bought my first Agency Power said he was very disappointed with the RPI axle back. He said it rusted up pretty quick, but that's the only complaint I've heard.

i have the rpi axelback... not a bad exhaust at all.. sounds great and has proven power considering its an axelback. Mine has zero rust but i dont drive in bad conditions. I was going to buy the xpipe but after i heard the noise your talking about i decided not to risk it. i dont know if the version 2 x pipe has fixed it or not.

The only thing holding me back here is that ringing sound! No-one can really say that the V2 stopped that sound and I like the system, I like the gains and other than the ringing part, I like the sound it makes.

Thanks fot the feedback guys. I am not too concerned about rust, that seems like maybe it was the exception rather than the standard. I have heard great things about Eloy and his customer service and dedication to service/R&D etc. I am comfortable with all areas of the system except that damn ringing sound!! Hahahaha. I am hoping its just an anomaly or something that you can only hear with a crappy video camera or something.

I went from an Eisenmann to Akrapovic but finally ended up with a Gintani system

Don't get it just because of the ringing sound. It sounds annoying on youtube..I can't imagine how annoying it would be in person.

Well - it seems that not everyone has that ringing sound and I am trying to figure out why? Is it the V2 X-pipe that got rid of the sound or is there something else going on?

I had the ringing sound it was super annoying. When I took the midpipes off the car after a few moths of use it was rusted and brown. Just my experience didn't really like it or the sound over other systems I have tried

I used to have the full RPI set up. It was possibly the worst sounding exhaust I have ever heard. If you only saw the look on my face when I drove off. I took off the x-pipe the next day and left the axle back which is fine but nothing special.

I had their M3 axle back which was a nice piece. I didn't use their midpipe because I didn't want that ringing sound. Instead I cut the front cats off of my stock X-pipe. It sounded great.

Yes, just buy cat back only and cut one of stock resonator, it sounds great.
There is no ringing sound.

I never used x-pipe with RPI cat back, so i cant tell about the ringing issue.

Hold on!!! Is this the exhaust that feeds the poor, cures cancer, brings world peace, and has dogs and cats living together in harmony ??

....give it a rest man, the guy is asking about a specific exhaust!

^^^^ Hahahaha....rough crowd!

Anyway, if I can get the axle back for the right price I will try it, if I dont like it I will sell and go Gintani. I have a line on a Gintani catback for a decent price but still almost double what I can get the RPi for.

Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it!
