Another Throttle Actuator Problem

About a year, my car started throwing a few error codes, 2B15 and 2B57. I replaced the throttle actuator and all was good.

Recently, my car started going into limp mode again. I was expecting it to be the other actuator. BT tool read 2B2D, 2B22 and 2B57. I went ahead and ordered another throttle actuator. I just received it and was about to install but I thought I would check the codes again. WAY more codes than I expected...Here's what I'm getting now:

2B2D - Throttle Valve Initialization Bank 2
2B22 - Throttle Flap Actuator Pre-Drive-Check Bank 2
2B57 - Motor Emergency program activated
2B4C - Intake Air Temp Sensor Plausibility Bank 1
CDC0 - Throttle Flap Actuator CAN-message Bank 2
2B21 - Throttle Flap Actuator Pre-Drive-Check Bank 1
2B15 - Throttle Flap Actuator Control Monitoring Bank 1

I'm very concerned that I'm now getting codes from both banks. The car is a 2008 E90 6MT. Anyone have any advice. I really don't want to install an $850 part to find out that's not the problem.

You may need to see if there is an update for the DME.

Did you replace both banks last time?

I replaced Bank 1 last year about 10,000 miles ago. Cars got 60,000 miles on it now. I can't imagine an actuator went bad in 10,000 miles. Plus there are other codes coming up that seem unrelated.

Not sure why the DME would need an update. The car ran perfectly for 1+ year and 10,000 miles.

Software isn't perfect and over time BMW will add minor updates to the DME coding to eliminate things that arise in the field. In my years of working on the S65, I've had to replace a handful of idle actuators and throttle actuators but the last time I did work on one, the test plan in the ISID prompted to reprogram the DME, clear faults and test drive. I'ts worth a shot considering your position.

Cool. I think it's time to bring it to my indy and let them figure it out.

Anyone else have any guesses for all of these codes?

It looks like both actuators will need replacement. The parts are covered for 2 years unlimited miles under parts warranty (with receipt of course), so you may be in luck getting one replaced under that. It's also worth mentioning the actuators are covered under emissions warranty for 7yr/70k miles in CARB states, in case you were unaware.
