The good:

- Roofline and proportions.
- Side crease/side skirts.
- Wheels.
- Headlights/rearlights. I would tweak the rear lights a little though.
- Grille.

The not-so-good:

- very very predictable.
- Rear bootlid area is quite bland.
- Front bumper is bland. Side intakes are just too predictable.
- Interior looks bland around the screen.

I'd take it over the GLK and X3, but its PREDICTABLE. It's annoying because Audi always win with nice details like headlights, rear lights, wheels etc. They just need to edge out a little more into the water and make their models more unqiue. I think they got half-way with the Q5. S-line will be interesting.

The rear looks straight up EX35? All in all I quite like it to be honest.

Well that's true! It's the proportions and roofline that make them very similar. The rear lights too.

I refuse to like this thing simply because it's so bland and predictable. I also refuse to like the X3 because it's so ugly. Why can't someone make an SUV that strikes a good compromise?

The proportions are the only thing I like about the car. They're sporting for an SUV, sort of like a raised and pumped up S5.

The taillights are unforgivingly ugly in my opinion. They're just plain Japanese in styling. The reflectors beneath them are absolutely atrocious and overdone too. I don't even see how they fit in with the design. They look tacked on.

As usual though, the details are spot-on (like you stated HKS). The headlights/taillights are wonderfully detailed adding some much-needed visual interest.

Seriously though, if you got rid of the badging on the rear, I'd be hard-pressed to be able to distinguish it from any other Japanese SUV.

Good interior though, as usual.

Oh, it was nice of them to at least change the placement of the license plate bracket on the grille. Thankgod they changed something.

I 99% agree with everything you said there. I wouldnt go as far as you with the rear lights, but as I said, I would def tweak them.

and +1 on the grille, they really had to change something Actually I'm sure Audi are going to be moving towards these grilles on the Q5 and Q7.

This might sound strange from someone who likes the Audi look, but on this model I think the grille suround in too thick, that chrome edge spoils the overall look at the front. Apart from that I am pleased with the Q5.

hkz786,

Any word on spec for the car, engine sizes, gearbox options, etc. Will this one include air suspension or something different.

The model featured is the 2.0T with 200bhp. I'm trying to get more info on engines and features...

One of my good sources believes we will see 7 speed S/Tronic and the new Quattro3 in the Q5. I'll keep you guys updated.

2.0-liter TFSI has been re-engineered producing 211 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque available from 1500 to 4200 rpm. 0-62 mph = 7.2s, Top speed = 137.94 mph. Fuel consumption is 8.5 liters per 100km (27.67 mpg)

The TDI units start with the 2.0-liter unit making 170 hp with 258.15 lb-ft between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. 0-62mph = 9.5s and Top speed = 126.76 mph, however, average fuel consumption of just 6.7 liters per 100 km (35.11 mpg) is significantly better than the TFSI engine.

The strongest engine is the 3.0-liter V6 TDI unit which delivers 240 hp with a whopping 500 Nm of torque available between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.0-62mph = 6.5 s, Top speed = 139.81 mph. On average, the three-liter engine consumes 7.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (30.55 mpg).

All three engines sound to offer very good performance and excellent economy. I remember posting the details of the new 7sp gearbox on the site and I believe it's capable of handling 550Nm of torque so your source is probably right in thinking that it will make it's way into this car.

Quattro3, is that the torque-vector system current on offer with the X6?

Yeah the engines do seem quite good, especially the changes they have made aswell. The Quattro3 system is the torque-vector system, and we should see it in the Q5 aswell as other future models.

Got a link to the Edmunds article bro?

The engine in the model in the pics is the 2.0TFSi. It's been upgraded from 200bhp to 211bhp. I also gave other details for the rest of the lineup.
