Unhappy Could this be idle control valve or what else?

Just had car reprogramed and no change(except need to redo all the settings)
Car was fine for 5 months then:

-on several occasions on moderate acceleration power is repeatedly interupted within 1 or 2 seconds so it feels like engine cuts in and out fast than you could modlate throttle(no traction light)

-in around town traffice as revs fall to 1800 in second gear(D mode) it feels like driveline resistance goes up alot(like car is stretching a huge rubberband) and then at 1200 rpm it "lets go" and car shoots forward then shifts to first gear smoothly

-when braked to a halt the engine revs slightly (to maybe 1400 rpm) once or twice

Second problem makes it miserable to drive in town- I'm always fighting it and thonking how hard to press the brakes in traffic-my loaner 328 felt like a vacation for me!

Problems 2 and 3 sometimes just vanish briefly (and come and go together) and seem to be worse with car or weather cold.

When car is cod problem #1 can happen in a more subtle way- the car feels like it's chugging forward for the first few blocks- again intermitent.

Any suggestions would be welcome- dealer seems to be trying but no clue realy.
(also got transmission fault-yellow cog before reprograming- no explaination given.)

Might want to try FreshAlloy or another Infiniti oriented board for more solid advice on your M as long as it's an M35

Sorry, no ideas on this one, but I continue to be disturbed by how many stories there are of BMW techs standing around looking at our cars, scratching their heads and having no clue what the answer is. I know they are technically challenging to work on, but it's not as though they don't have every paramater and device monitor and (supposedly) the best diagnostic system on the planet for these cars. Disheartening.

Best of luck!

No idea really but I guess it has to do more with software issues.

If I understand the case correctly all these issues are easily reproducible, so just take it in. They will hook it up in the computer and do the necessary software update (or hardware work in case of mechanical failure).

That's what I DID! They said BMW suggested redoing the software but they admit it's not much different but have no other suggestions.

Dealer told me there is a bulletin out on this sort of issue. Go ask for the reprogram. I think in bad cases it ends up being the idle control valve, but I think you need CEL codes for that repair.

tell them to take a ride with you, and let them experience it. then they'll know it's not normal.
