hate civilians that drive "unmarked cars"

am i the only one that hates when regular people drive ex unmarked cars like a black crown vic with black steel wheels, the spotlight next to the windshield, and cb radio antennas all over. I personally think it should be illegal to own a car that looks like a police car. What do you guys think about people that drive these?

I would consider that "impersonating an officer", i think its bullshit too...I think that people that drive these are just a bunch of wannabe's

Whenever I see one, I always have to do a double take (even normal crown vics)... but I don't think that's a good enough reason even remotely to make them illegal.

Most of these come from city/police auctions... make for great beater cars.

It's not impersonating a police officer unless you try to pull someone over or do something. You can actually even have a light bar legally (as long as you don't turn it on).

Why would you worry about it, if you weren't doing something that would warrant an "unmarked car's" attention? Huh huh??

I agree they should have to remove the spot light at least, you cant make them take the antenaes off because they could actually have a CB radio or something stupid. And even though they arent allowed to have the light working it should just be removed before the car is even sold.

Doesn't happen in the UK. If you so much as have a blue light, you're impersonating a Police Vehicle.

heh.. a friend of mine bought a former police crown victoria for his father a while back. It was really cheap, and in great shape actually. we took it to vegas a couple of times and it's so funny so see people flying up on you at 100mph and practically do an "endo" when they see the crown vic.

These are all over northern FL. Most of them are so beat up that you can easily tell that they are no longer being used by the police.

The spotlight was an option even for non-police cars wasn't it?

The whole point of an unmarked car is for cops to blend in with society..it's for their safety..

be careful up there in north jersey though. My wife was being tailgated at night on the PIP by an unmarked Parkway Police car. She sped up slightly so she could move over into the right lane to let him pass and he pulled her over for speeding. Asshole.

OP, policemen ARE civilians...even though they would like you to believe otherwise...
