i own an M3 and i drove a GTR that our CFO owns
totally unimpressed with the GTR
sounds rough, suspension (for lack of a better word) is non existant, even at the softest setting.
interior is nice
i like the looks
but too much of a compromise
it may be great on a track, but i don't drive on a track
if i were getting a track car i think i'd rather have something like an elise or an Ariel atom.

But honestly a car that starts at $55k vs one at $90k. That's a huge difference. You should be comparing the GTR to a 911 IMO if you have that kind of money. Don't get me wrong the M3 is a great car, but i'd take the GTR if money were not an option.
What?! where r u from? the price of a gtr and a m3 is really similar...at most 20k off depending on what packages you get. My m3 is almost fully loaded and i got it for 100k my friend got his gtr for 115k...and im from canada

I just looked both up..same equippments
E92 69K and GTR 91K
Difference of 22K
Plus I'm not sure if'll get a chance to bargin down the GTR price as we do with the M3. Also does GTR come with 5 years maintinance?
The point is they are different in almost everything including price range.
I think if you're in the market for a GTR you should be test driving some 911 (S, 2s, 4s whatever) or Audi R8

How do you come up with $40k? I paid $70k for my e92 DCT with Nav and most options (no premium sound or extended leather)?

I don't know why people say they can't be cross-shopped. I was looking at the GTR when I had my M3 on order. Both cars make sacrifices in different areas and it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons of each car. Yes it's a good 20k more, but it's not too much of a stretch. The big thing for me was being able to drive a manual. I'm just not ready for a dual clutch system yet. I don't have a daily commute so daily drivability wasn't really a factor. I also don't like the interior quality or video game-like center console/nav system and I prefer high revving N/A RWD cars overall.

What piqued my interest in the GTR was the insane performance bargain it was, the menacing looks, and all the technology around the car. But in the end I didn't want that for an extra 20G and the M3 was just a better car for me overall.

GTR vs. M3

Must not take the bait...

test drive, then post your feedback. If you are a baller and crave a super-car with almost exotic status your best bet is a GT-R.

I consider the GT-R more of a tuner car and the M3 more of a purist's car.

OMG people just because its NISSAN?.... so you think you have a 60-70k BMW now its a different story? so your BMW M3 is Better Brand? I hate it when people say nissan shouldnt be 90k cause its nissan.

some people cannot afford to buy Ferrari or Lambo but they are able to buy the closest car which is the GTR without breaking the bank.

i see comments like why buy that should be 40 thousand dollars car cause its nissan. OH FAWK GROW UP IT TAKES A LOT TO MAKE THE CAR TO BE IN THE CATEGORY WITH THE EXOTICS WITH 1/4 THE PRICE OF THE EXOTICS.

I guess some people are close minded when it comes to brand. (whoring brand doesnt make you a baller)

If i can afford the GTR with maintenance cost i will no doubt take the GTR.

I bought the M3 cause of performance compare to C63, Audi RS and ISF. (which are all in the same price range and what i can afford)

GTR best value for the BUCK....

oh sorry just a rant.

So I guess you think the NSX is a POS too huh?

Or a nicely modded and well kept R34 is a waste of money too huh?

Right... and a 90k car vs a 130k car.... uh huh... and a GT3 barely comes with air conditioning.. and is an even worse daily driver... you don't get a GT3 and DD it you... you simply don't

BMW is no Porsche, BMW is no Ferrari.. BMW is a normal luxury sports brand like Audi, MBenz etc

Most Nissan dealers don't seem to allow test drives of the GTR until you are deep into the purchase process. At least that's how it seems to be in California.

If i had the choice i'd go for the M...not because it's cheaper but because it has character. If i had an M3 as a DD and wanted a race car i'd defenetly get the GTR cause it isn't so pricey like a ferrari or a lambo but again those cars have a character.if you really like the GTR..then just get it and park it NEXT to your 335i good luck

And BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are all standard service cars in Europe. They are used as taxies and police cars. Only in America does the automobile brand elitism show up.

Since I have both, I would pick the GTR any day. However, there's some exception:
1 This car will be your complete DD which in traffic for most of the time
2 you don't care performance
3 badge whore
