Excellent write-up, very nice especially with the options packages you have selected. Equally happy that the E92 ///M did not have to relinquish it's parking space Congrats

Good write up and good looking car. Congrats.
My vote would of been for the 550i M-sport X-drive after driving both. They are both beautiful cars for sure. PS: Between the 3k headliner and 6k b&o I just can't justify spending 9k on those options.

The headliner is pricey. The B&O is worth every penny. Holy shit it sounds good.

Great looking OP. there is no doubt I would take the S6 over the 550. Again I was really wanting to buy one. But went with a pre owned X5M (my first pre owned). i was trying to be more conservative and save some money and Personally, the S6 is a great car and European car had the tuner shoot out and the S6 had crazy power.
I have just had too many bad service experiences and sales with audi that I am taking a timeout for a bit. The sales guy made me pay for gas when test driving the S6!!! Drove it back and walked away. Mind you I have bought 3 Cars from them. If they ever bring a wagon over I am all over it. Enjoy OP and enjoy modding as it will surely kill any M5/6 out there with a tune. Looking forward to seeing what you do!! It's a beautiful car |

I drove the S6 and 550i M Sport xDrive back to back and I was blown away with how much I preferred the S6. To me, they weren't even close. I preferred the S6 in every way.

Great review. I would love to have both of those cars in my stable. I test drove the S6 and loved it. The motor is fantastic and reminded my of the '03 RS6 that I had before my M3. You can't beat an Audi in snowy climates. My only gripe with Audi is their reliability. I have owned an S4, RS6, S8, and Q7 in the past and every one of them had major repair needs. I have had far better luck with BMW in that regard. As long as an Audi is under warranty I would get one again.

Looks great. This is out of my price range for a second car. Would you trade your M3 for one if you only were to have 1 car? (we live in similar climates, im NYC) As a second car I'm looking at the Q5 3.2

Congrats! The S6 is incredible…never thought Id see the day where both it and the cls63 were handily beating the M5 in compares, but whereas the M5 has lost a lot of its appeal the merc and audi have gotten that much better.
I love the S6 and having owned a B8 S4, I know Audi def has its advantages in certain areas. In terms of interior, this car has the M5/6 beat. BMW just isn't quite there yet. |

However.....I would still take the combo of the M3/Q5 over the S6 alone, as the M3's almost magical precision feel is definitely not there in the S6. Quote:
Very different experience from the Cayenne. The steering on the Cayenne was a little tighter and more precise, but now we are comparing good old hydraulic vs. electric. The S6 has better overall configurability of all its performance parameters. The S6 has slightly more roll in the turns, but my Cayenne had the PDCC option. The transmission, engine, interior, and electronics on the S6 are light years ahead of the Cayenne, but again, you are comparing a 2009 model to a 2014 model. I did consider a new Cayenne GTS, but optioned the way I wanted it, it came to about $107,000. My S6 retailed at $89,000 and I got it for $83,400. While absolute cost wasn't a limiting factor for me in this case, value is always important. The S6 is a lot of car for the money. The Porsche (new) is too much money for the car. Still, if you are in the market for an SUV, the Cayenne is really unbeatable IMO. If you want to get a Porsche, buy used for sure. There are a lot of highly optioned models on the used market with low miles, and big $$$$ off new car prices. All those high priced options mean very little in the used car pricing world, so you can get a car with like $30k in factory upgrades (easy to do in a Porsche) and pay just a little more than a stripped down version of the same vehicle.

Nice review. My lease is up this May and I am strongly considering the S6. My wife and I are plus one and the e92 does not make sense for the family anymore. If the timing was right I probably would pick up an F80 M3. I test drove the S6 and the 550i. Was not impressed by the 550i and was very impressed with the S6. I have reached out to a few dealerships in FL and all of them have been a PITA. Steve Thomas BMW set the bar way too high!
I really like the diamond seats but was curious about the comfort sport seats with the massage function. How is the bass with the BO system and how is the sound quality with streaming and with your phone directly connected? What about some video of the S6?! Nice color by the way. Is it phantom black pearl? |

The bass output of the B&O is highly dependent on the source. As a system, it is more than capable of substantial bass, however, if it isn't in the recording, then adding bass through the tone controls, while possible, is certainly not the same as having a seperate 1000 watt amp and a 12" JLW7. I listen to rock and classical, and for that, there is enough for sure. If you want that earthshaking feeling, then you will need to add something. One thing I haven't tried however (and I think I will) is to adjust the bass on my ipod and see what effect that has. In the end, however, it is just a magnificent souund system. And I mean magnificent. The bass is exactly where it should be for almost all musical types. Not really. My S6 is a daily driver. I needed something that wasn't so exotic in this regard, and from a convenience standpoint, the Audi dealership is only 6 miles from my house. The nearest Maserati dealer is about 70 miles from me. I would have probably bought a Panamera before the Ghibli, but again, we are faced with the issue of VALUE, which is and has always been important to me. As I said in a previous post, the S6 is a lot of car for the money. The Maserati and Porsche are best bought used where you can get a car with like 3000 miles for $30k off the list price.
