Exclamation SES light on after my ESS install

So I just finished installed the ESS VT1-550 kit on my car and everything is buttoned up nicely and the car runs and drive just fine. The only problem is I'm getting a "service engine soon" light.

I pulled the code and its 27A6 "tank ventilation actuation bank 1". I have a feeling it's some kind of emissions thing, but I've checked everything I can get to and all the connections seem correct.

Any one have any thoughts or come across this before? Also, if any of the ESS vendors are online, I'd appreciate any thoughts. I've reached out directly to ESS, but it's a Sunday so I didn't expect an immediate response.

I would reload the tune again and check the codes. If its still there you can clear the code with the ESS software

Yep, I've reloaded the software and cleared the code a few times and it keeps reappearing.

Something similar happened to me when I installed my VT2-625 kit I kept getting an brake code pop up. I cleared it twice and eventually it went away. Drive the car a little and see if it adjusts itself after you clear the code.

I'm not completely familiar with the ESS kits, but supercharger installs in general usually have a one way valve/check valve that gets installed in the tank vent hose. This prevents boost pressure from pressurizing the fuel tank. If your kit has this as well, you may make sure that it is oriented properly in the tank vent hose. In the AA kit it's installed under the plenum, but again, I'm unfamiliar with your kits installation.

Lets hope so, taking a longer trip now.

Did you guys notice an excess noise with the blower once the cold start goes away? Once the exhaust gets quieter, the head unit is noticeably louder which makes me nervous

Likely that code will not clear itself.

Reloading the tune is not going to help and I wouldn't suggest that.

Either something is not connected right or they need to send you a different calibration with that fault pulled out.

Something is not installed correctly. That code will most likely not clear itself.

I've never had any issues with my kit except an increased emissions cel, upon which I called roman and they emailed me an updated tune almost instantly! I would assume it has something to do with your install

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Looks like it's the section that's indicated in this diagram. The front vacuum hose is modified to feed the bypass valve and I guess I didn't get the hose clamps tight enough or something. I'll probably order the valve as well just in case that's the problem. Of course this is directly under the manifold so it'll have to come back off.

Much appreciated!

I've always taken pride in working on the car myself, although it's pretty nerve racking to pull apart a $70K car!

200 million calculations per second, that ECU adapts very fast. In minutes, not hours or days. Check that you injector connectors are all clipped on good.

The T-fitting is placed within this line for the BOV. Check to see if #4 hose is dried out/cracked/leaking.

Hey Tom,

Does the t-fitting have a check valve as well? Possible that the check valve could be backwards? I know my system does have a check valve in that area.

You could possibly have an earlier configuration. ESS does not utilize a check valve that we have seen.
