1200 mile break in service -- no warning?

I am at 1450 miles on my new m3 and there has been no indication that it's break-in service of 1200 miles is due.

The CBS shows 15,000 miles.

Could this have been done at the port? I have been playing phone tag with my dealing this week trying to schedule the break-in service. But, I am now confused, as I see folks talking about service warnings and phone calls from their dealership. I have neither. Next service, according to the car, is in 15,000 miles or 4/2015!

edit to add: I did approximately 950 miles of driving in Germany before dropping it off at MUN. Again, no warning during my < 5500 RPM driving.

I just completed my 1200 mi break-in. The oil service was done at 1250 mi. I received no warnings on the dash; however, I could see the count down if I went into idrive and queried the oil service due.

I would definitely get the dealer to do the 1200 mi oil service. Many people suppose the 1200 mi drain is to wash out wear metals. My experience with an e46 M3 was that at 1200 mi the used oil analysis showed the oil had virtually negligible wear metals. I believe the factory fill on the M cars is basically a break-in oil. By that I mean it has more than its normal share of anti-wear additives and much less than the normal share of detergent/dispersant (calcium) since: (1) the oil is not intended for an extended drain interval, and (2) because the calcium slows the activation of the zddp anti-wear adds - - in break-in oil you want those anti-wear adds to start working asap.

I would not leave the factory fill in until the 15k oil service - - unless you can positively verify that the dealer or someone else did the 1200 oil service before you took stateside delivery.

I would def schedule the service, the most critical thing is getting the differential fluid replaced and if 6MT the trans fluid (both are standard scope for the break-in service so make sure they are done)

This is not something done at the port. You will definitely want to schedule the service ASAP.

I'm on the low-mileage annual oil change timeline. I didn't get a prompt for an annual oil change, so I missed it by a month.

Actually, it looks like it was done at the Brunswick, GA port at the VDC.

I just had my dealer run the VIN and they performed the maintenance there.

Mystery solved!

Yeah with a mileage at 950 I believe they do it at the port.

[Edit] You found out haha. Mine service light came on around 400 miles saying I had like 800 miles to go or something like that.
