I don't have a pic, but I can confirm it's different on the 11's.

The New oil cap can be seen in this photo. My car was an early 2011 (built April 2010) and it had the new cap on it!

The new cap fits pre-2011 M3's since there were no change to the filler neck/valve cover, only the cap. I have about 21,000KM (~12,600Miles) on my car and haven't had any issue with it leaking yet!

My valve cover is different than that; the filler is lower - basically on the valve cover. I had to have my cap replaced and it looked like the same design as my original one, but it fit tightly. This in an 09 with a 09/08 build date.

Your valve cover is not different..... There was no part # change on the valve covers from 08-current cars.

My original valve covers were actually replaced by a powdercoated set off of a 2010 car....... A quite famous Atlantis Coupe in fact...... And there was no difference between them at all.

I have a June '08 production car and mine doesn't leak a drop. Maybe they changed gaskets at some point and got some crappy ones? If mine does leak, I will probably go to the '11 cap though.

The older cap looks better . Problem with older caps leaking is gasket can 'bunch up' (for lack of a better word) when turning it if not lubed with a thin film of oil, like you do with a cartridge oil filter. If you do that, no leaks at all. I'm going to live with mine; new one looks like it came off from a Yugo .

Yah, you are right - my bad. It's the angle and color that screwed me up:

Mine was the opposite actually - not enough tension to make it tight. Always felt like a 1-year-old could turn it. The new one is much tighter.

My 08 definitely leaks through the cap.

They replaced it under warranty and it happened again.

It's a very slight amount and just looks like residue under the cap.

Not a big deal, I'm going to try and get that new cap when I go to the dealer next week - looks better than the original one. And love the intake manifold painted a couple pics above!

Also did you notice the difference in the oil filter caps in the two pictures? Just like the oil cap filter cap is also different.
