how much does your M3 weigh

Hi guys,

I currently had the chance some weeks ago to weigh my M3 with the supercharger and all and I was very surprised at the weight of my car, but happy.

my car weighed in @ a total weight of 1511kg

so this leads me to wonder what are most of weigh of my forum buddy's M3s

anyone would like to share?

please also note: with or without supercharger kit

More info about your car when it's being weighted? We did lots of corner balance on E9x M3's, never seen one close to that weight range.

It looks like consistently without a driver and a decent tank of gas and no weight reduction the weight comes in around 3500. People always say how heavy this car is but 3500 is really by today standards super duper light IMO for all the tech we get with the car.

The seats are worth a good 75 pounds if you replace with two recaros or some racing seats. However the location of the seats is so centered and major of the weight is on the bottom of the seat that 75 pounds lost here is pretty neglible. The other thing total weight does not take into account is where that weight is placed. People laugh at the CF roof but all those light-weight pieces on the m3 are pretty neatly placed in all the right areas including the roof, the front end, the unsprung masses etc.

So basically IMO seats for a loss of 75 pounds in the dead low center of the car is really having no impact on handling and might be good for a 1-2hp equivelent in acceleration but neglible.

The best mod in terms of weight savings for this car are lighter tires and wheels but even then hte OEM pS2's or contis are already virtually the lightest outside the new DW's or pilot sport cups.

3500 with strategic placement of weight IMO probably is more desirable than the e46 weighing 200 pounds less however no CF roof, not as much plastic around the bumpers, heavier suspension/unsprung weight, heavier wheels and tires. OEM tires actually were 5-6 pounds heavier per tire if you look back at the OEM provided compared to the now PS2's. That is a HUGE difference.

I've heard bmw overstates their Gross Vehicle Weight due to some TUV rules or something. I have a very low option e90 and I'd like to see what it weighs. I plan to weight it this spring when I get my summer wheels back on.

Gotta get my sedan weighed sometime. Figure I have about the heaviest M3 that will see regular track time. Four doors, DCT, moonroof, nav system, premium sound, seat warmers...I've got just about every Go FAT part on there imaginable.

Forgot to add, 3550 with RD Sport front bar (slightly heavier than stock), TR motorsport MT1 wheels/spacers and Hoosier A6 in 295 and 315/30-18. Right at 12 gallons of gas again. For comparison to Richard's 1/4 tank number, the car would be at ~3,505 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas.

For the record, the options are:
Premium package
Cold weather package

Interesting, does anyone know the weight of the options?
EDC/DCT/nav/heated seats/etc. I mean DCT alone must be close to double the weight of the manual transmission.
