Finished it up. Looks good and this knob is heavier than the E46 M3 Performance shift knob IMO so that is a plus.

oh i'm interested in this big time.
My OEM shifter leather is worn out, and I wanted a shorter shifter.

does it light up like the oem one? white or red?

If my car wasn't DCT, this would be the "must-have" mod for it. Was it hard to retrofit?

It was as easy as the E46 M3 performance shiftknob. 30-40 minutes maybe. Also noted is once this knob is in place it is super tight and wont come off as easy as the E46 M3 performance knob. It clicks and locks and everything.

The other thing is the Alcantara boot comes attached to this shiftknob for 5 minute install into the 2014 BMW F30.

For the E9X M3 you will have to pry apart the knob and boot gently. Then you will have to dremel or file down the 3 plastic prongs. Then light grit sand the 3 spots then I painted them Jerez. You dont see them as they are on the bottom of the shiftknob anyway but I was anal about that. Plus had to put my good luck surf bracelet from Greece on there. lol

Then take your OEM shift knob and use a razor blade and cut the very farthest point up, which is right below the solid OEM knob. Separate the two pieces and put the boot on the knob post in your car. Same exact way as the ZHP knob in the other thread I bumped.

I really like this dark CF piece as it matches your Carbon Leather dash trim..

The good news is there are a couple dealers that have these in stock for a good price. New Jersey dealer and a New York dealer have them in stock. They will tell you they wont fit the E9X M3 but they do.

This does not light up but someone actually played around with the E46 M3 Performance knob a couple years ago on his E46 M3 and got it to light up. Some fabricating was involved. There was a thread somewhere on E46fanatics or M3forums... I don't see why the same steps couldn't be done for the E9X M3 platform. I will look for it.

Do it. I will try and find my actual digital camera and actually take a good picture. All of these are just iphone pics. Not the best and horrible lighting. Just convenient.

you cannot. The knob, boot, and console ring are glued together, if you only want the knob, you need to do what Endless did, which is trimming the boot. There's a Lighted ZHP DIY on this forum that shows you how to tuck the trimmed boot (with a zip tie) to the new knob.

Mdosu is correct. You have to buy the entire assembly. All 3 pieces.

I have seen them as low as $150+ shipping and as high as $369+ shipping.

Go here....Its a start and you can see how the prices are all over the place.

You can. There are a couple dealers out of New Jersey that have them on sale for $149+ tax for the set. Other than that its $175+ on most sites.
