The 08s will last you 3-4x as long, their stopping power/torque seems to be 95% of what the 01s are, and they are friendly to rotors. I think the 08s are the ultimate HPDE track pad/race enduro pad.
+1

I am on my second year with the PF08 and really love them.

I did find this thread that suggested the SR34s might wear out very quickly, though (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=815445), so on a per-mile basis the PFC08 cost may not be too far off. It's also sounding like the SR33 or 32 may be worth investigating as well. Decisions, decisions.....
First time out with the SR32s yesterday, and I don't really like them. Not in the same league as the RS29s.

Pedal and feel very inconsistent. Sometimes fantastic initial bite, other times I'm waiting for them to grab. And that change in feel is seemingly without correlation to brake fade, i.e. the strong initial bite and longer travel comes and goes randomly over the course of a lap/session. Also the steering wheel "juddering" that I got when I tried street/track pads is back. They stop well enough I suppose, but don't feel nearly as good or consistent as the Pagids. Actually, the SR32s feel almost exactly as I remember the Street Performance pads on track.

Wow ok, good to know. Interesting how different your experience was from BigJae's. I'll probably wait until these pads have been tested by more people before deciding whether to investigate them myself. Thanks for reporting back, though!

DTC60's and DTC70's are good race pads for heavier cars. I also like ebc yellow stuffs on lighter cars.

BBK up front with race pads, stock calipers/rotors out back with a matching pad.

Difference could be in part due to the different compounds/levels of Stoptech race pad -- I have the SR32, that review is on the SR34. (Went with the SR32 on Zeckhausen's recommendation.)

I'm not experiencing any touchiness or grab when they're cold on the street, as reported with the SR34. And as I said before, I was feeling anything but confident about the performance and feel. Sounds like the SR32 and 34 are very different pads. Sounds like I might have tried the wrong compound..

Anyways, don't get the SR32 if you're looking for a race pad -- SR33 or 34 maybe. RS29 definitely.

I've had really good results with DTC70s all around on the e92, making it hard to fall back to PFC08s (which I revisit once in a while as the DTCs eat rotors for breakfast). Both good pads, very different braking levels & longevity.

If you are at MSRH on Jun 29/30...two of us E46m3 guys have ST BBKS. I use SR34s, other guy uses Pagid yellows. You can ride in both and compare.

If you liked the pagids before, you'll probably like the pagids now. Honestly, it's more of a preference and most like what they have used in the past.

Hi guys,

I am in a similar position in that I am considering a front-BBK to use with street tires on my full weight E90 M3. I run Laguna Seca in the Advanced HPDE groups, and I have found the track to be very hard on brakes. Will a ST-40 front brake kit (with front race pads and rear street pads) be fade proof in this situation, or do I really need to man up for the ST-60 kit? In priority order, my goals are fade-free performance, lowest initial and running costs, quickest pad swap time (which is why I would like to run street pads in the rear brakes).

I am really hoping the front-only ST-40 BBK will work!

I think you'll be OK with the ST40 kit. The driver plays a big role in how long the brakes last.
