Availability of Euro Type Side View Mirrors

I was wondering if anyone knows if the M3's in Europe come with the wide-angle lenses instead of the American ones. I upgraded my E46 330xi with those and I love the additional angle that I get for safety.

Any information would be awesome!

Rennspec should be able to get them for you.

I ordered mine through RoverActive and they were quite expensive. US Dealers can't seem to order those like they used to for the E46s.

I ordered a set from ECSTunning. They do have wide angel lense and heated. However, they do not auto dim. If you are ok with that, ECS has them. They're around $200+shipping. Good luck

I believe the ones with auto dim, wide angle, and heated are only 100 more.

Here's the link to realoem:

Thanks! I saw some prices, ECSTurning has them for $700 which is a bit expensive. I'm wondering if that's just for glass or for the entire mirror assembly.

That's just the glass. The whole assembly cost about 1600 from Europe (with pre-painted caps). I bought them for my old 335xi.

Wide angle? So, does this mean you can see the blind spot?

Correct, these are the euro aspherical mirrors. Since they are not DOT legal, no US dealer offers them.

We can - however parts (as well as international shipping) is very expensive.

At the very least, I'm getting a set for my M3, I'll start a new thread when they arrive in stock.

Installation is a snap

literally. Point the existing mirror so it aims squarely down at the ground, then insert wooden spoon handle at top opening and pry. The glass pops out.

Note: I'd recommend the non-tinted (and less expensive) non-auto dim version. Although you lose the dimming feature, that's a plus in my book. Can still see cops at night (rather than a blacked out mirror w/ a headlight) and no copper-tinted glass/bevelved edge to distort the image during the day.

$200 'ish.

If you have the dimming feature, does it give you an error if you install it without?

No error codes at all.

Don't waste $ on the self-dimming feature --its ridiculous IMHO.

I just don't see the need for these. First thing they told us at a track event is to open up the mirrors more and you can catch almost all your blind spot. "And if you want to see the side of your car, you just tilt your head a little."

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I had them on a BMW a number of years ago, and they were fantastic. The mirror was not continuously convex, but, instead, split and folded back a little to give the wide angle viewing. I could see the whole freeway on both sides. Wish I knew how to get that kind again.

I reccommend against non dimming side mirror glass. I went that route myself from the dimming OEM mirrors. My reasoning is that you get used to the balanced apperance between the rear and side mirrors since the both dim. After this the non dimming side mirrors look both unbalanced and way too bright. I'm sure you could get used to it.

FYI I am selling my set of gloss black mirror housing and my set of matte black. The matte ones are non auto dimming and non power folding. You can find them in the FS section.
