Road trip west to east...
I will be moving from San Diego to South Carolina in a couple of months. I've never done a coast to coast road trip before, especially in my M.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with my body, meaning clear bra, or a bra for bugs and rocks? Thanks!

A clear bra is a good investment no matter what trip you plan on taking.

Thanks! I should have gotten the clear bra done a long time ago. Anyone in San Diego have any recommendations on where to go?
Nine: The front bumper is ok. Got a bunch of rock chips. Sucks for the soft BMW paint. Sonic: I'll be in Charleston.

I haven't made this far of a trip but if I did then I would consider the link below and a couple radar detectors.

V1 for sure on that 2-day run through texas on I-10. paint protection film on top half. if your bumper is already chipped up, might as well save the money on film and have it repainted after settling down.

Put gas in it and drive. Don't get the bra, they look ugly and just protect the car for the next owner while you sacrifice the look of it while you own it.

I would recommend just driving the car and staying away from large trucks in front of you. They usually like to throw up small rocks. |

I recently drove from Washington DC to Ohio (about 800 miles round trip) and I didn't experience any bad rock chips or anything. Like Artem said, avoid large trucks and drive carefully.

too late for the clear bra
bring 2 qts of 10w60 drive speed limit in texas (i was ticketed before for doing 63 in a 60) keep your windshield clean it can lead to eye fatigue don't try doing it all at once there are some beautiful sites to be seen on the way and its an incredible opportunity. might want to invest in a tire plug kit, they are easy enough to do yourself. have fun, good luck, and stay safe. |

Don't bother with the clear bra. A good portion of the trip will be out in the middle of nowhere. 90% of the trip will not involve a lot of other cars. No other cars, no rock chips.
Otherwise, not sure if they still have night vs day speed limits in texas, so watch out for that. If you're doing any of the driving during the week, it's a good idea to try to time your route through major cities (Dallas FTW, Atlanta, etc) avoiding traffic hours. The biggest challenge is boredom. Especially going west to east. The first part of the trip is full of nothingness. Good luck and godspeed.

I drove from SC to OR and vice versa 2x's. No paint chips from those trips. Summer time trips are a lot easier on the car. Avoid getting behind trucks is my best advice.
