Just Ordered 2013 E92 M3!

Well, after about 22 years of dreaming about one and 2 years of serious hemming and hawing, I finally hit 'send' on the email that placed my order in the order bank. Stats:

As most of you know the 2013s don't start building until July so it may be a little bit but looking forward to it. I'm probably going to do a 24 or 30 month lease in anticipation of an F82 next, after the first year bugs are worked out. The S4 is a great car and relatively rare, but I was kidding myself when I said I would be fine not getting an M3. This will be our 4th BMW but 1st M (E90 330i and 2 E70 X5s). Looking forward to that first drive!

Color combo is good, but I can't figure out why you got rid of the carbon fiber roof. That thing not only looks sexy, it reduces the weight and center of gravity.

+1 on CF roof. consider changing that immediately. the CF roof is one of the coolest design elements of the M3. and it's lighter.

Not as compelling on a black car since it's hard to discern unless you are up close. For other colored cars, yes it is stunning.

Thanks for all the comments and congratulations! I know, it was hard deciding whether or not to get the CF roof but in the end I felt I'd rather have the option of sliding open the roof and getting some fresh air and light in vs. the non-moonroof option. Besides, as others have said it's really not that much of a noticeable contrast on a black car. I'm not a track monster or anything either so I know I won't notice the lighter weight or lower CG. I think for me that's a good tradeoff. To each their own though, and for those that get a track monster with a stripped down, bare bones car I say more power to them - have fun. All I care about is I'm getting the exact car I've always wanted, hell yeah!

Still trying to decide if i'm going to commit to FR though. It's a lease so I don't care about resale, but i think that interior looks pretty cool. I'll probably stick with it. I've had black leather on the last 5 cars we've owned - time to mix it up. Thanks again!

And please don't hate me for passing on the CF roof!

Good luck. Reconsider the FR with the FR/Black/Black. I'm glad I went with the latter bc it's the perfect mix of both colors. Especially the doors. Very competitive looking in person vs. a bit on the loud side, IMO.
Also, did you ever consider the S5, given you've had an affinity for Audi's in the past? Just curious.......

Actually, I thought long and hard about the RS5 but it is just a bit out of my price range. I wasn't as interested in the S5 since the 2013's are almost exactly like the car I have now (B8 S4) now that they've transition to the same SC V6 and DSG transmission as the S4. It's a great looking car but the interior will be exactly the same as what I've had for the last 3 years. Time for something new, plus I've always wanted an M3.
