I'm wondering if My engine is running at full power
I have reason to believe I'm currently not running at full power. I just hit 40k miles and the car just seems sluggish. I don't ever remember thinking it was this slow.
My question is: is there any way a BMW tech can make sure my engine is running properly. Or should I just go get it dyno'd to see what whp I'm putting down? I may have the old software but like I said I don't ever remembering thinking to myself this car seems sluggish. Thanks for the feedback. Chris |

An easier way would be to compare the speed of your car to that of another "known good" M3's (on a closed course...). I have done this before since my car can feel very slow sometimes. I think it has something to do with riding the sportbike too much.

Filter could be dirty, lax driving adapts the car to a more sluggish feeling, older software, bad plugs (I'm sure your service 1 just gave you new plugs), or maybe just a bad batch of gas.

The ECU does have an adaptive system in that it recognises when it is being driven in a "fuel saving" (slow) manner and adjusts the ECU map to provide optimum mpg (which also reduces power somewhat). Driving full throttle and high rpm for a period of time will reset the ECU back to full power mode. If you take it into a dealer this is their default method of "repair" for owners who report M3s down on power.

Thank you all very much. Maybe I need to do some spirited driving. I dd my car and often I'm I'm traffic with the tranny in D3.
I'm unsure on the spark plugs. I need to see if they've changed them recently. |
