Cold air coming through ash tray area...

Is that normal and I just never noticed it?

Check foam cushion surrounding shifter under boot and reposition if needed.

Actualy it's the automatic air circulation system of our ///M3 !
And when ash tray is open during this proces you feel the result that the air is in circulation mode but only when the ash tray is open ...

Yes, exactly the same... problem/issue.

My S/A plans to look at it the next time I bring the car in for scheduled maintenance.

It's probably due to missing plugs under the console trim. There are plugs that cover mounting bolt locations that are inside the vent path for the rear vent. There have been some other threads on it as well

Bmw advanced engineering. It'd actually keep cigarette lit if you had it there.
