If she is financing a nearly 4 year old car for 6 years she needs to shop for a less expensive car within her means.

62k on a 2008 is a lot of miles. And she's already worried about lower payments and less $$ down financing the car, etc. At 13% over that period of time, she's ending up buying an expensive car that will eventually be worth nothing. And then there's maintenance and repair. It would make more sense to just lease a new car.

I agree with what's been already said. This sounds dubious and could get her into a worse financial position. There's a reason why people with bad credit get screwed all the time by finance companies. She needs to look for something she can honestly afford and work on building her finances and credit rating. A expensive German car isn't the answer, imho.

Guessing the sticker on that '08 A4 2.0T is $22k-$25k. This with a 72 month loan would put your payment around $450 @ 13%.

You could probably get a brand new Civic for similar money, have lower maintenance costs, and get your warranty anyways.

Or, do the smart thing. Buy a cheap car for cash and get her out of the hole money wise with no car payment. Plenty of great cars for under $10k.

lease something for $250-$300 a month until she gets her credit score in to a more acceptable range.

Do you wonder why her credit score is low?
Do her a favor and get her out of that car asap.

She hasn't been financially responsible up to this point...don't add to it.

She needs to eat some crow and slow her roll. Get some transportation and get outta the hole. Then, and only when she's financially ready, get a nicer car.

Depending on whether the dealership was reputable or not, this is not unheard of. You get the car on the road even though the deal might not be 100% on the dealership/bank-finance end. The finance manager has to fight for certain deals. After they put you on the road, the bank balked at the deal and could have decided she was way too big a risk. The bank could come back and change the stipulations...

...Also, could be a scam.

WALK AWAY!!!

no offense to you... but if you plan to have a long term future with this girl, I highly suggest you reconsider.... it's very clear she does not have the capability to manage her finances...

you wouldn't want to be stuck with her screw ups....

no matter how you cut it... this car is a bad deal and for what its worth, you're being her enabler for bad decisions

I think shes doing better now, anyways I read the contract and it states the seller (dealer) has 0 days to find a financer or cancel the contract, so I think they are stuck.

alright man, to help add to the voice of reason of this thread. Your girl has some SERIOUS problems.
I'll just emphasize what everyone has said about buying a car she can't afford, but add the insurance aspect to that. it's dropping $80 a MONTH? That's a fucking grand a year DROP. Insurance shouldn't drop like that from simply switching a car unless she's paying many many grand a year.

She needs to sit down and figure all of her shit out before buying a 4 year old car at another 6 years of payments.

13%? That's a lot, she's going to end up paying over 20 grand + maintenance + insurance. I'd encourage you to convince her to buy a much less expensive car and get her credit score up. Especially before buying an Audi which has had all kinds of reliability problems (supposedly solved post 2007).

I guess I understand it if it's REALLY her thing (everyone needs a hobby, and life is once).

looks like we're on the same page here. this girl has some serious financial attached baggage. I can't imagine how much she has in loans and credit cards.

If she was paying that much more with another provider, this again goes to the financial problems she has.
I've NEVER heard of anyone overpaying by $80 a month unless they're downright...dumb. Shit my driving history is horrible, and I'm paying for 2 cars and I'm not even PAYING $80 a month, let alone have a drop of that magnitude.

but to go back on topic, you're right, once the papers are signed they can't renig on it

Mine dropped $50 a month from my srt10 to the bimmer, it was also progressive to geico, she had state farm which is pricey.

That puts it into a bit of perspective.

Only in the sense that she is not being quite as stupid the 2nd time. There's no reason to not buy a vehicle that is less epxensive to own and operate.
