http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320052

Is it too loud? How much does it drone?

I'm thinking about doing it and I finally convinced a shop to do it. lol

I'd say it's 15-20% louder?
It's not too loud
It's basically your OEM exhaust, but with more balls

Cool, thanks for the response. Would you recommend to cover up all four of the perforated pipes or just the 2 with the higher amount of holes?

Mine has just the larger section closed off
Smaller section left as is
And I love it!

I had all 4 covered. I absolutely loved it but didn't think it was really loud. The good thing about this exhaust is that it's loud when you want it not just all the time. The more you step on the gas the louder it gets but all the way up top you hear that engine roar over the exhaust.

I just did the 2 and it's perfect! Has a nice aggressive roar when on the gas but sounds stock while cruising. It doesn't drone at all either!

I was going to cover all 4 pipes but the main reason I didnt is that I didnt want to pay the shop another 85$ for another hour of work to do the 2 smaller pipes that only have a few holes in the first place. Most of the holes on the smaller pipes are already covered by that wire hair looking crap anyway.

You can see what I mean in these picts from when I did mine.

What material did your shop use to cover the perforations? That's the way I want to do it, not cutting the stock pipes.

I actually want to remove that steel wool and leave the smaller perforations open (with all the packing material around it), to have some absorption, and minimize raspiness. But only if I could find a shop to do it. Nobody local wanted to do it without guaranteeing they wouldn't ruin the muffler due to their welders being 'too hot'. Obviously they don't know what they're doing, like others in larger cities. Oh well. Stuck with stock exhaust, it seems. Have a good one.

PM "ar design". They are the ones that did mine and they can tell you all about it and what they used.

It's not loud at all at lower rpms. Shrieks when you floor it. By the way if you want the sound and are not bothered with the drone at 2000-3000 rpm, then remove the large and heavy muffler and replace with straight pipes. I did this whilst maintaining the 2 twin pipes. You will need to "equalize" the pulses by weldin an H-pipe or simply weld a pipe that will connect both banks right after the diff. The sound is awesome!!!.

If you decide to go with "operating" on the OEM muffler then completely seal off the perforated pipes including the one with the steel wool. No need to repack with the stuff you removed as there is nothing to muffle. Sound is still great but not as load and off course no drone....

It's pretty freakin loud outside, but not nearly as loud as an Eisenmann Race or Meisterschaft or Gintani Race, those things are ridiculous.

Inside i can hardly tell the difference. people outside think my car sounds sick.

thanks in advance.
