It's been a long wait
Tomorrow is a big day. Picking up my Alpine White M3 after 18 months on the waiting list. The long wait has been a killer but it has suddenly got worse since I know that the car is only 2 miles away at the dealers. I'm resisting a sneak preview while it gets a final prep today - want it to be all polished up for the first glimpse.
The salesman called to confirm some details today and simply reports that it looks a million dollars and is turning heads. I have used and abused this site for months when other sources of info were hard to come by. I know how much everyone waits for scraps of anything to read so I thought registering and posting my news was overdue. If I didn't do it now, not likely to happen for some time. |

Very exciting.
Advice: If someone is with you, have them take some candid pictures of you taking delivery of the car from a distance to capture the moment. You can put them in a photo album and always recapture the moment. Enjoy your day and congrats!! |

Hey, I almost know exactly how you feel. My dealer called me today to tell me that they will have my car a week early on 09/10 and it's already in the UK. Unfortunately, I'm on holiday so will have to delay collection until the end of October (28th to be precise) - oh the anticipation. Luckily, I've got a demo tomorrow morning for an hour or so in a car that has already been run in so that should keep things going. Good luck with your new toy! |

I also went for comfort access but not sure how well it will work for me. Hope my doors don't unlock as I sit in my office which is right next to my car park space!!! |

Photos
A couple of photos attached. Car is dirty after driving in rain yesterday but doesn't show up too much on these shots. I'll post more photos later.
The car is fantastic. First impressions are only based on driving like a nun so I can't comment on performance. What is immediately clear is that it has grown up, giving comfort and refinement. My 2004 E46 M3 felt like it was in full attack mode on every journey but I think this will give you the option of something more relaxed on the occasions when you slow things down. This will be great if it delivers the thrills as well but I'll have to wait for that one. The engine is fairly quiet at low revs but is really starting to build fantastic noise around mid revs - just at the point of having to change up. Impressed with the inside. Not yet crashed playing with the i-drive. Reported seat height issue is def not a problem. Steering wheel is too thick and I just hope that I don't notice it after a while. More posts when I get a chance. |
