Just checked out this car today. Thought it was listed for too much. Dealer didn't seem to want to budge on the price more then 1000 off. What do you guys think?

That's just crazy. I got mine for $61K and it was better equipped with only 7,600 miles on it. And that wasn't a great deal but they took my Evo that had $17K in repairs (got T-Boned) for $21,300 when 3 other dealerships were giving me $16K - $18K for it.

Asking for a friend:

'08 E93 Alpine White/Fox Red
Non-CPO
14k miles
DCT
Tech package
Premium sound
Cold weather
iPod/USB

Asking $62K at a Northern CA BMW dealership. I'm inclined to say it's overpriced but wanted to get some other opinions.

I don't know how they're CPO-ing 2009 M3s right now. Every dealer i've talked to have been telling me there aren't any CPO programs out on the 2009 models right now. This was just me checking in with them over the weekend.

I don't know who's getting fed the load of crap, but they showed me their CPO program binder and the 09+ models weren't on there.

Use caution when approaching cars that are older in year, it is highly likely that the 'out of service' date is 2012 and without CPO or extended Maint- I would stay away from the older convertibles. At 62, you do A LOT better in terms of year.

-------------------------
Different point, just observing the market for the last 8-10months, BMWs lose huge value when coming from private party or non-BMW dealerships.

Most buyers see it more advantages to buy CPO'd, so there is a solid demand for those cars not to mention that they are rare, and there is hard and fast value added when the car is CPO'd or has 100k maint package.

1,000 miles, looks like a dealer demo, I'd work that against the dealer and try to get your selling price aroudn 51-52.

with the 2.9 financing available from BMWFS and dealers willing to let you buy cars for $500 - $1000 over invoice, used M3's are a bad deal right now. I couldn't find an E90 used for less than what I'm buying a new E90 for (ED or stateside delivery, didn't matter). The used market is nuts right now in my opinion.

Agreed! I can eurodelivery a new car for about 10,000 more than a used 08 car!

Yeah I know prices go up in the summer, especially on convertables, but I missed a chance a few months ago to buy a 09 M3 coupe with 21k loaded up with extended fox red, DCT, all packages, premium sound, sat, and CPO for $54,??? non-negotiated price. Now I can seem to find any 09 cars under $60k.

And any 2011 I find used are listed for more than invoice of a new one.

Right, but I'd say most 'new' buyers are leasing, most 'owners' are looking for that CPO'd 100k warranty...IMHO.

compared to the 335i, the M3 is a huge step up. Compared to the market, the M3 is a very hot car, it gets praise left and right, many buyers will pay that extra 2-3k to get the car they want (CPO's, loaded, clean) and dealers/sales people take advantage of it.

Asked if it was a demo and they said no that the person just didn't drive it alot. Going to go check it out tomorrow. What would be the best price I can expect to get them down from that price? And should It matter that it's not a CPO car? Probably still under 50k mile warranty right?

Last I heard from the BMW dealer, there are no CPO programs on 2009 or newer used M3s.

That dealer may still have outdated information. A quick search shows the following 2009+ CPO M3s.

2010 Sedan CPO

2009 Coupe CPO

2009 Coupe CPO

I'm buying mine, but I see your point.

However, I suggest if you are looking at a '10 or '11 (and maybe an '09) M3, right now with 2.9% financing for 60 months (+1% loyalty credit if you qualify, and I do!), taking a euro delivery vehicle is still likely cheap enough to allow you to buy some ridiculously long extended warranty that is better than the CPO one (many extended warranties are better than CPO, btw, and I've had a CPO BMW).

Cool... we pretty much got the same deal price wise.

2.49% is amazing, I got 2.79% for 5 years.

No CPO, no trade, cash deal, not a demo, from a BMW dealer, out the door - 46k! They'll quote you in the 50k range, but you tell them that no way you'll pay near that for an 2008!

yeah I would lose on taxes, but it might be worth it if I can find a good deal on a DCT.

ooops didn't see the CPO marker, you're right, CPO adds real value to the car. But you can buy an extended warranty for around $3000, so it can't be worth more than the most expensive extended warranty.
