I totally agree. I think the wheels that the new M3s come with look amazing, and all that's required is a little bit more aggressive stance, which spacers and H&R springs can do

You have reasoning behind that?

I really think the Eibach with the less drop will be easier on ride quality and shock life. If you are going only springs.

They have a more reputable name in my opinion, I have friends who have lowered everything from Honda Civics to 997 TT on H&R Springs. And never had an issue with them. Its just personal preference I suppose.

I assume he is saying that because it is less of a drop, therefore it will be "easier" on ride quality and shock life. But honestly, Im not worried. and the H&Rs aren't so low anyways! So Eibach would be too high for my liking.

For me the quality of H&R vs Eibach is marginal. Both make a quality product. Eibach do make some lower priced products, because they want to I suspect.

I see no reason why the Eibach will necessarily be softer or harder simply because they are marginally higher when fitted than H&R's. An assumption here me thinks

As for shock wear this is a misnoma IMO. A stiffer spring will restrict the wheel from moving so dramatically under bump for example. This means the damper will move LESS not more. The damper settings are not changed unless you change the EDC settings. I see no reason for any changes in shock wear at all with stiffer springs.

Both Eibach and H&R have a lot of racing credentials.

I have read a lot of reviews from M5 members with the Eibach Pro-kits. They say they feel no difference at all in ride quality. I had H&R's on a 3-series a few years back. It felt a little bouncy at times. I see why you like the H&R's, by looking at your screen name.

Yu are correct, I had an Eibach pro adjustable suspension kit on an E39M5 and changed it for a Bilstein PSS9 after 30k of enjoyable miles. The H&R adjustable kit was reputedly harder than the Bilstein, which was harder than the Eibach. I undertand that H&R are usually stiffer than Eibach for their spring kits BUT this is not always the case.

The ride of the H&R's with 18's is much better than a stock e46M3 on 19's. I know I had one and my friend still have a sub 30k miler we compared and debated the suspension between the two cars yesterday !

My point here is don't reject the H&R's on stiffness as they really are not too stiff for the E92 and IMO work extremely well

Great info. If I purchase the EDC-equipped sedan this week, I'll be considering the H&R or Eibach springs. What's the difference in cost?

... on the issue of spacers...wouldn't that risk rubbing on hard cornering? Are you adding spacers for looks? Performance or both? I had H&R Springs on my IS and considered spacers but it seemed that the wheels might rub the way I would push the car on cornering. I'm considering the H&Rs on the M3 as well but I'm not so sure about spacers.

Members have used spacers up to 20mm on the rear and 15mm on the front without any issues of rubbing.

HR

Well I decide, I am going to go with the HR's. Thanx for all the advice. If the shocks blow, I get new one and go back to stock. But for now I am going low.

Spacer size need to be considered in the context of the installed wheel offset. For example, a 20mm spacer with the OEM wheel (be the 18" or 19") will stick out, as the ET is 22 to begin with. A 15mm spacer with the front OEM wheels (ET 29) is pushing it.

So any discussion of spacers need to include also the ET of the wheel in question or the particular spacer size chosen could be the wrong one.

What about Schnitzer? Do they have lowering springs?

Someone told me once Schnitzer uses Eibach lowering springs. Is that correct?
