Cali smog
So when my smog check comes up what should be the process for passing it.
I am running test pipes instead of my cats. Will i have to weld the cats back on? |

spend a few extra bucks and have a shop make the cats/test pipes bolt-on. you're going to have to smog the car every two years. bolt-on cats will make it a lot easier.

Or if you can find a shop that will pass you under the table or have software that puts the monitors in ready-check and a shop that only does OBD-II testing.

worst thing you can do is weld/cut/reweld .... once you weld it on the length does change after cutting it off obviously because you cant chop where you weld you have to go further back... bet thing to do is like stated above .... spend a little more and have the exhaust shop you are taking it to weld flanges on both the cat and the test pipe for easy removal. and when they weld make sure you are taking it to a professional tig welder so you wont have any issues later down the line with your flanges.

AutoTalent should have a bunch of X-pipes just sitting around to borrow.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

No idea. I'm just saying call them up and see if they'll let you borrow an X-pipe to smog test and then swap it back.
