So I just removed my secondary cats, leaving OEM X-pipe, primary cats, resonators and combining with my Eisenmann Sport. I gotta say it sounds awesome. Sound is way more aggressive when you step on it and just slightly more while cruising around. Volume is a bit louder when accelerating, but sounds the same cruising around. Drone is zero and it still has a nice smooth sound without much of an annoying raspy sound I'm guessing cause I left the resonators. Anyone considering spending $1900 on an X-pipe and doesn't consider this option first is out of their mind. Cost is so small compared to buying x-pipe, HFC's and necessary ECU flash.

Great news and a very nice price conscious option. Some dyno work would have been nice! Would like to see pictures as well.

I'll try and get a video if I can find a video camera. Looks nice, just a straight piece of pipe instead of cats. It's definitely gotta be flowing better since I looked inside the secondary cat and saw all the restriction in there. That I'll post of pic of so people can see what's inside a cat. Maybe there's a small HP gain, certainly nothing that can be felt with a butt dyno on a 414hp car. I chose this for sound, and there's no question it sounds better.

For those of you who haven't seen the inside of the secondary cat. As you can see they are pretty restrictive

And here's one bad pic of the straight pipe. I'll post better when I'm under the car next time

Please do post a vid - I have the sport exhaust and would like to increase the volume a bit. I assume this mod accomplishes this? Also, did you just simply cut the cats out and weld in a straight pipe?

Thanks!

I will try and get video if I can find a friend with a video camera. I did just simply cut the cats and weld in straight pipe.

This mod is highly recommended by me, the car sounds amazing. Just a touch louder at most during normal driving, but when you get on it it sounds awesome. Much more aggressive sounding under hard acceleration. Over 3K sounds really cool. But leaving the resonators is a must. It keeps the sound from being to raspy and there is still absolutely no drone.

Cool! Looks like I'll be getting this done. I had thought about selling my exhaust and going with an RPI but I was concerned with the exhaust being too loud. Sounds like this option may be a middle of the road approach and probably cheaper.

Thanks again,
Barry

How much did they charge you to do it? And did they cut in weld with the system still in or did they take it off to do the work?

3 hours labor to do the job. They had to unbolt the mid section of the exhaust, take it down, cut out cats, cut new pipe, test fit it, then take it down and weld it, then put it all back together. There is no room to weld it on the car.

It takes a little work cause stock pipe is almost 2.75". They replaced the cat section with 3" stainless steal pipe.

I had mine done too. Great inexpensive mod. No drone at all, and my butt dyno feels an improvement, but their may be a psycological correction factor that needs to be apllied due to the new sound

Does anyone know if the car will pass emissions testing with secondary cat delete? If the answer is yes, then why ? i.e. what is their function?

The secondary cats are for cold start emmision tests. If there is no cold start test then it will pass.

Is anybody that did it having problems with the car? I did it yesterday and I started to have problems starting the car. When I push start, it turns on for a second then shuts off. It doesnt even hit 1000 rpm. Now today the increased emissions sign came on.

Nope, being after O2 sensors it should have no effect. Also all full aftermarket systems delete secondary cat. I've had mine off for a week now and no problems what so ever. Just big sound improvement.

Getting the problem fixed tomorrow... The problem had nothing to do with the cat. It's a problem with the idle.

If anyone is wondering I had NYS inspection today. Passed no problem without the cat. Dealer even did the yearly maintenance and didn't notice or say anything about it.
