Euro Tails: LCI Upgrade

Hey guys,

I'm getting to that point where the pre-LCI tail lights aren't working out for me anymore (ithcing to change em out). With that being said, it's time to upgrade to LCI tails...Now as I understand, the euro tails had orange LEDs for indictators and the US just had red LEDs? If this is the case, where can I get a set of these and are they coded/ installed the same way as the US LCI tails?

I've seen both the Euro and US LCI tails for sale at EAS...I would imagine they are coded/installed the same but not sure.

I got mine from www.schmiedmann.com. They are plug and play so I would imagine once your car is coded for LCI tails in general that there is no special coding for EU tails.

Edit: The website can be a bit challenging but here are the part numbers for the EU tails. Keep in mind these are for the tails in the right and left side panels. The smaller pieces in the trunk are the same for US and EU spec tails...

I was going to do Euro LCI's but when I saw a pair in person the red lenses looked more pinkish to me. That kind of made me change my mind. I had Euro Black Lines on my old Pre-LCI and enjoyed them and wanted these but pinkish did not work well for me.

Maybe they are not all like that, only saw one pair used last year.

I have euro lcis. I just plugged them in.

You don't need to do anything "special" for Euro vs US spec. If you're doing the upgrade, from pre-lci ... you'll need a harness and coding for both.

If you're looking to go euro, ECS has good pricing. That's where I got mine. OEM Euro BMW. Regarding the "pink" comment, see below. They look just as red to me.

ECS no longer carries the euro tails. I ordered from them but got US spec red tails instead! They quickly refunded my money but said they could no longer source the LCI euro tails and they no longer appear on their website...

Edit: ECS no longer carries the E90 euro tails. They still show E92 and E93 euro tails on their website... Sorry for the confusion!

As mentioned, the coding is the same either way, but I say GO FOR IT! They look so good installed and the Amber blinkers are worth the extra in my opinion.
I posted a review of some Euro LCI lights here:

Yes , the LCI tails comes with the connectors .(plug and play )
If you have the FRM-1 module(model 2008/10) you need to upgrade to the FRM-3 module .
For me personal the Euro/Spec is looking better with the amber led blinkers.(saw both Euro/Spec and US/Spec)
Note:The BMW Oem LCI's are looking better than after market brands , because the light bars are looking sharper and brighter in the dark .
So personal I would go only for BMW Oem LCI's !
Coding is required for both specs .

Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying OEM LCI Taillights for my 2009 M3. But i didn't realize BMW does not supply any retrofit cables. So i ordered those today, Hopefully everything works out. Thanks again

Negative no module replacement needed on M3s, only earlier non-ms I believe. Only the harness and coding is needed.

Otherwise all other points are valid.

It seems yes , because I saw that the light bars were not so sharp and bright as the real BMW Oem LCI's in the dark .
BTW....How is the car running ?

Dammit. 4 years ago when I upgraded my E92 with LCI tail lights, I bought the OEM ones for ~650eur (special offer) with the BMW logo etched on the housing and everything.
Last year when I was about to do the same I've found some cheaper ones (~400eur) that some people claimed were "originals but missing the BMW logo". At that price point I bought them and when they arrived I honestly didn't see any difference at all. Couldn't really compare them at night side by side though

The engine is great but the DCT is terrible for city driving. Must be still some old software. I'm having the car's complete software updated next week at a dealership, hopefully that'll fix the issues.

Yeah , old software really s@cks for our DCT trans. the latest 240E must be better .
But not always because I had terrible second gear lag and had 2 DCT updates from my BMW/Dealer and it was twice....$$$ !
It was about 50% better , but still there...
After this I had my BPM/Engine tune and DCT/Software upgrade and this was just WOW !
And thought 5H1T...If I only knew this before how great BPM is !
So for me personal it's only BPM/Software that really works
Good to hear that your S65 is running great....Oughhh !
