What I'd really love to see: a four way test with E92 M-DCT, E92 6MT, E93 M-DCT and E93 6MT. This would give a great picture of how the body style (weight) and transmission both effect the acceleration. Of course track times would also be part of such a test, and provided the track has sufficient turns, there I would fully suspect the E92 to be the clear winner regardless of which transmission is equipped.
I use the Racelogic Performance Box which is also the same gear used by most UK car magazines (such as EVO and Autocar)..... todays times were with the top down and without using launch control (I've only got 1000 miles on the clock so its not available yet)....

The 0-100 time is particularly good compared to the RS4 Cab I tested a while ago (same track and similar conditions).... the M3 being a full 4 seconds quicker:

Did you use S5 or S6 (without launch control)? If you used S5, did you completely disable DSC, or did you use MDM mode? Sorry to ask so many questions, and I'm not sure it matters, but what power or throttle setting did you use? Nice job by the way - those are some damn impressive numbers for the E93!! And I agree that a good launch from an MDCT equipped E93 will out-accelerate a lot of 6MT E90/E92 drivers whose shifting techniques are not almost perfectly timed. (Before you coupe/sedan or 6MT people flame me - let me clarify - that would be purely the result of the driver, as assuming properly timed and executed shifting technique, a 6MT E90/E92 should definitely out-accelerate an MDCT E93 by a few tenths of a second)...

I did several runs in each direction..... all in D5 Sport Plus and MDM (so the only skill involved from the driver was slamming my foot to the floor and keeping the car on the road....)

I got several 4.4/4.5sec runs with the 4.3 as the best. Looking at the data this evening the 1ft rollout reduces the time by around 0.2 so the true 0-60 (ie. not a US magazine test or drag strip time) is 4.57sec..... still much better than I expected!

Man, that makes me happy, the vert is not as slow as one thought, anything under 5sec is damn quick!

Good to know - I guess the nice thing about D5 vs. S5 or S6 without launch control is that the computer will automatically shift right at redline - something that can be botched in S5 or S6 without perfect timing...
