There is a left hand turn that I make daily that requires me to drive through a dip in the road mid turn. The power would always cut out with the US MDM, i would turn traction control off because it would create a dangerous situation. With the Euro MDM the power doesn't cut out at all.
Thank You

Has anyone in the US actually asked a dealer to enable Euro MDM (doubting they would do it, but you never know).

I remember watching Richard Hammond doing things in MDM mode that I couldn't possibly do without the traction control off. There is a pretty big difference between Euro and NA modes.

My brother in law wants me to change this on his M3. Which module is it in? I didn't see it listed above (or I totally missed it).

If I'm not mistaken this video explains that MDM is driven by sensors front and back that detect difference in rotation, and stop the rear wheels from applying too much power. And the video also explains the difference between a "euro" MDM setting and USA, as discussed here. Watch it.

Yes, you have to change the szl module to an MDrive compatible part, add VO $2MD & code defaults to the car, reset steering angle sensor & you'll have it.

I own a 2008 Euro M3 sedan without Competition pack. I have to say, the MDM does not allow anything which might be called drifting. It even cuts the power when quickly shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

I will change to the Competition pack MDM as this allows more drift angle and tyre slip. According to the guy who did the calibration it is no problem to flash this on my vehicle and he will be the one doing the modification. Will be interesting...

MDM is great to drive safely but fast on a wet track (I tried it on the Nürburgring GP circuit). But even there it limited the vehicle dynamics too much in for my taste. So I had to drive with DSC off which is very easy with the M3 as it is very predictable to drive.

Can you give me the name of tuner you used (address as well)? I have US spec, here in germany.

I think the video is about traction control on the GT2 race car and has nothing to do with MDM on street cars. However the fundamentals on how it works is similar. Definitely not a comparo of Euro vs US MDM though...

So when i add the m setting to CIC all the settings come up for MDM. Are you saying its not actually functional w/o the hardware change. Coding shows DSC:MDM, Power Sport Plus, Sevrotronic: Sport ....where before all i had was power: Sport/Normal.

I didnt do any hardware change.
