Hello, had my e92 M3 (2011 sedan with 47K on the clock) for a few weeks now. I've noticed after flooring it thru 1-2-3 gear and backing off the gas the cabin gets a burst exhaust fumes if the windows are down. Anyone else get this?

Doesn't sound normal unless pulling to a stop and you're running catless?

Standard exhaust system. An unnerving amount of black soot around the boot as well.

Sounds like it's running rich which could be a number of problems. If you got it from a BMW dealer, I would be taking it back asap.

Agreed. Its chewing 18.4l / 100k so fair drinking it

If you are flooring it, 18.4l is normal me think..
I am driving very conservatively and it is showing 16.4ltr/100. My drives are very short though.

I have not experience black smoke on mine. Should get the issue checked out.

had a look underneath? maybe a clamp has come loose on the exhaust?

. the soot is just like that tho. I'm surprised how thirsty it is. Came from a 6L SS Commodore, that was more economical!

I'm getting 12L to 14L per 100km with town driving with occasional spurts
18 doesn't sound normal.
Zero the journey computer before next drive and see what it has for X/100 after that
