Power Rear Sunshade... in action video

This thread is for those considering Rear Window Power Sunshade as an option, but not sure if it's worth it...

When I was ordering my previous 335i back in '06, even back then I wanted to have this rear window option, but my SA convinced me not to get it,- I didn't get it and regretted such decision ever since.

This time around, I made sure to get Rear Window Power Sunshade for my 2011 SG M3 ZCP!

When I was placing order for my 2011 M3, I realized I could not find any sufficient info on Rear Window Sunshade, no info, and maybe one photo here on this forum... but as I was bulilding my M3, I needed more visual description of Sunshade... none was available.

Now, since I have my own Rear Window Sunshade, I decided to put together

a nice collection of photos and videos and give back to bimmerpost community

Rear Window Power Sunshade is a very cool option for some $300+ it keeps the heat of sun out and keeps cabin cool, looks cool too and adds some privacy to interior...

I keep my sunshade up all the time since it adds to privacy, the only time I rolled sunshade up and down is to take these photos and videos, otherwise it stays up all the time.

If you planning to have CF Roof, the sunshade will only compliment CF and add to continutation of CF down the rear window...

I much prefer the rear sunshade vs tint. In fact, I just removed the tint because of the dot matrix looking terrible.

So wait, I thought the E92 (coupe) couldn't have this. If so, I want it. Where can I get it?

Retrofit for "POWER sunshade" is simply too expensive, close to $2k at dealer,- not worth it.

You can get an OEM "PUP IN shade" for rear and side rear, those are not expensive, $170 for a pair of rear sides and somewhere in that range for rear,- pretty cool too

I have to agree with you

... the new "EXTENDED" speed cloth is so much better! I have the whole new speed cloth thread in the works! Speed Cloth is so awesome, it deserves an all new fresh thread!

when i first picked up my car, I was like big woop, I dont' care.

But recently I've been on a few road trips and going through my first summer with the car, I think it's really important in keeping the cabin cool. I was driving 8 hours today 4 of those hours under direct sunlight, andI needed to keep the back seats cool as I had a cooler and other food items. It greatly aided the cooling effort.

Also parking the car directly under a hot afternoon sun, I used it and noticed significant temperature differences with it up. Combine that with a cracked window or cracked sunroof and there can be a good 15 degree temperature difference.

Nice pics and vids!

I've had the rear sunshade option on my E46 M3 and my current E90 M3. I had my dealer special order it on my E46 M3 as is was a Euro option at that time? It is a must for the AZ sun, but I still use it now that I'm in San Diego. It's money well spent at the time of ordering. Sorry I never posted pics or vids to help you out!
