That was cold start idle with the windows down, but I was in a "cove" in the garage (see picture of parking spot).

Sorry for making some of you angry with my modding route. In 3yrs/40k miles when my extended warranty is up and the car is paid off, I'll do some "real" mods.

For now, I'm extremely happy with how this turned out. And for the last month, my 80 mile commute has been that much better.

Yeah, I would think a muffler delete is worse on a 335... At least the M is a beast all around and not a 328i with turbos

FYI guys do muffler deletes on m5 and some lambo and ferraris; are they cheap or embarassing??

To each his own; let's leave it there

Why do people hate on him because he went this route, if he likes it thats all that matters.
Im sure it sounds amazing, if you can handle the drone, and like a loud exhaust then this seems like a perfect option.

^ Completely disagree. Many people run straight pipes on exotics as they like the aggressive sound.

Dont think your analogy applies either. The people who run straight pipes would likely consider this as adding a silk tie to their Armani suit as it is a complement and not a detraction.

Exactly... I think you should hear it in person before you judge, most aggressive sounding exhaust I have heard on an M (in person, I'm sure some of you full catless guys will take the cake )

Lol you obviously have no idea what it sounds like. Listen to the youtube video. Not one bit of fart/rice/honda so I'm not sure what you are referring to

Just saw this thread - http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=762261

Those videos capture the sound better, pretty much exactly what mine sounds like. I just don't have the muffler "housing".

Hmmmmmmmmmm....a fully catless WRX (STi) isn't loud at all. Whenever I start it up, "loud" is the last word I think of. Catless downpipe w/full Greddy TBE, btw....sounds rather docile.

Sound is subjective..and so Im happy that you like you setup, but I also know what I like and others here share the same philosophy.
weird, I have had like 5 sets of mufflers and a set of straight pipes and they sounded great w/ no drone. And got lots of compliments. Alot of fuckin haters in here. Unless you buy volks or have BBS FI your a loser, and if you have a Akra (which IMO doesn't sound too great and everyone and their mother has it) people love ya. Typical BMW stereotype proven

*sigh* You're pretty much agreeing with what I'm trying to say. The OP said that he's had 3 loud cars, one of them being a STi. I posted to say that, contrary to his statement, the STi *isn't* loud.

Did you lose all your low end power?

I had to take my muffler off for a week after I got rear ended and it totally ruined the driving experience.

Placebo effect. Unless you increase the pipe diameter of an exhaust, you can't lose power with a muffler delete

The catalytic converters are the main source of backpressure in the stock system
