Those with OSS headlights: V2 or V4?
I meant to post this earlier, but I've been tied up with work and a little bit of a family emergency. Anyway, I am scheduled to send my headlights off to Luis at OSS this weekend, and need help deciding which LED rings to go with v2 or v4 rings.
The v2 rings have the more distinct "beads." The v4 are less segmented and a little brighter (30%). The brightness might make it seem like v4 is a no brainer, but I must say I love the way the v2 look in photos. Sometimes the v4 look a little blurry. Also, forgot to add that the v4s are $100 more. I'm looking for some feedback from those of you with the OSS headlights. Do those of you with v2 find them not bright enough? Do those of you with the v4 find them too bright and blurry? Thanks in advance. Last edited by Hujan; 10-08-2013 at 01:44 AM.. |

I had the choice of V2 or V4's when I did mine, and went with V2's. I'm probably in the minority but I actually like the segmented look of the V2's. As far as brightness, they're plenty bright, even in direct sunlight.

Thanks guys. I am liking the v2's as well. Pretty sure I want to go with those, but wanted to be sure I'm not making a mistake.
Anybody with the v4's that likes them more than the v2's? |

I am in the same dilema, I am schedule to bring my car for November 12th and chose the V4 but same as you like the segmented look of the V2, my previous M3 had the V2 and they were bright enough but thought the V4 may be even nicer but after your post I may change back to the V2, the V4 look less segmented, they look more like a solid ring

Weird, I thought everyone would have liked the continuous look. I certainly do. The segmented one looks non-OEM and ricey IMO.
I have the 180 or whatever they are and they are segmented. They blend together if you are a ways away but I don't like how they look up close (segmented).

The biggest issue with the v4 in my opinion is that they are almost too bright and look blurry in some of the photos I've seen. The brightness of the v2 is just right to my eye.
It's a matter of personal opinion, obviously, but I had a hard time finding anyone who strongly preferred the v4. I also talked to some people off the forum who have experience with both and they echoed the same sentiments. |

Yeah, it's just in pics though I think. I think the light output is so high that they saturate the camera.

Is it possible to do these on your own? Wonder if there is a vendor in Canada who sell these.

I looked into retrofitting the LCI angel eyes into the non-LCI lights and it's just not possible. They made A LOT of changes to accommodate the new angel eyes and LED turn signals.

Understanding that it's a very subjective thing (like color, wheels, etc.), the v4s look like too much of a good thing to me. But that's next to v2s, which IMO look (at least in photos) like the ideal angel eye, IMO. If you handed me an OSS setup with v4s, I'd be pretty damn happy, too. |

Looks great in the day, too much at night (but hard to judge these things from pictures). I have LUX H8 V3s, and while I love them at night, I feel they are a tad too dim in the daylight.

I went with the V4 can't really compare them to V2 but I am very happy with them you can see them from far, far away during the day.
