Lucky you! PA insurance rates are super-high. I'm paying $775 every 6 months for a 2011 E90 M3. No tickets, no accidents, ever. Over 30 and married. USAA wanted $1431! I quickly switched to State Farm after a quote like that!

Not bad, depending on the limits and coverage options. With Geico, and also a clean record + pleasure vehicle status, I'm paying about $950 for a year with $500k/$1M limits and $250 deductibles on my 2013.

I am in my 30s, have full coverage with maximum everything, rental car and I pay $840 a year. $500 deductible. I also have accident forgiveness.

Geico told me that if I was over 40 years of age my yearly would be under $800 a year.

WTH..... accident forgivness? What Ins carrier are you with?

I also added window/glass protection without deductibles and ALL parts are OEM replacement (assuming its still avail).

Just to give you a sense of CA pricing, I just switched from Virginia to CA (SF Bay area). Same insurer, same coverage, same everything, my premiums jumped 2.5x!

Which highlights why these threads are meaningless. Without real details on location (actual zip codes), income, credit score and actual coverage amounts (not just "max") among other factors, there is no real way to compare insurance rates...

I live in Orleans parish, go three miles as the crow flies to Jefferson parish and I would likely pay 30%-40% less for liability coverage alone. And liability is the biggest cost in insurance, not the actual cost to repair the car.

yep agreed, every once in a while, some guy will start a thread "how much do you pay for insurance?" and all chaos breaks loose, b/c no one is comparing apples to apples.

There are so many factors that figure in to your premiums, it's almost impossible to compare it unless all details are written out. People should start with the liability, comprehensive, personal injury, and property damage figures, deductible, multi-line discounts, driving records...and then go from there.

Its all about your driving history, guesstimated mileage a year you drive and AGE is huge.

Yup Geico gives you accident forgiveness with so many years of ticket, accident, infraction free.

I always wondered about "pleasure car" status. I just bought a Jeep Wrangler and commute with it about half the time. Probably more in the winter.

What would be the implications of changing the M3 to "pleasure car" status in my case?

Is insurance not going to cover me if something happens on the commute?

As I indicated, not trying to pick on you but the point is that simply throwing out a dollar per month figure is really meaningless as there are some many individual factors that go into calculating insurance premiums. For example, how much liability coverage do you have? $50k? $500k? $1 million? That alone will have a significant impact on premiums. Combine that with where you live, age credit score etc and there is simply no way to realistically compare rates without having a lot more information. And no one provides the needed information! We've had countless threads oven this forum covering the subject but they are a waste of time without the proper information to really try and compare.

You mean Philly insurance rates are super high.. I am over 30 and married with a house and I am paying $1000/ 6 months for '08 M3, '10 A4 and '13 Impreza
