Congrats!

I totally agree that the sedan looks better in person. The flared fenders and aggressive stance don't seem to translate well in photos.

You will get used to the ride. In comfort mode I think it is pretty supple. Granted, my last sporting car was a Lexus IS-F and it was pretty rough. I feel like the M is a good compromise of body control and ride comfort.

I've had my car a few more days than you and I'm still learning all the features in I-Drive. I've found the operation to be pretty intuitive, but I still come across menus and options I didn't even know were there. You really do have to read the manual on this car.

I can't wait to get past the break in so I can really see what the M will really do.

Well, after an 11 week wait, I finally picked up my car from the dealer yesterday (Jerez Black E90 M3, DCT). What a feeling! I got home at 6pm, and I could still feel the adrenaline flowing 3 hours later!

Initial comments:

1.) The m3 sedan is GORGEOUS! It looks pretty decent in pictures online, but in person the lines are absolutely stunning. And I love how the color of my car seems to blend and change in different lights. Also, the runner lights along the doorsill & floor (the little LEDs) really add to the effect.

2.) Dealer threw in a few freebies that I didn't expect. This may or may not be typical, but I got two sweet //M keychains and //M3 carpets. A nice little addition, made me like my dealer even more

3.) The driving experience is ridiculous. I test drove an M3 before I purchased, but the test drive was nothing like the real experience. Threw the car into a few twisties and the car just does NOT slip! You feel like you will never run out of grip.

4.) This car is incredibly low to the ground. I used to drive an SUV before this, so it's already been a huge change. I have to be oh so careful around here, with all the potholes, speed bumps, and nasty steep ramps.

5.) The ride is surprisingly rough. Did anyone else feel this? Even with suspension set to comfort, it's alot rougher than I expected. I won't complain, after all it IS a sports car, but that definitely surprised me. I'll have to check the tire pressure today and see if that's throwing me off.

6.) People definitely notice this car. I got at least 2-3 comments while at the dealer's in the parking lot, and I definitely had several people pull up alongside me while driving home. So for those of you that think it's inconspicuous...you're right, if you compare it to say a Ferrari! Otherwise, no.

7.) The customization available via IDrive is frankly ridiculous. I consider myself a fairly tech-savvy individual, but I predict it will take me a good 4-5 months to get a good grip on the majority of it's features. I mean come on, you have the ability to set how long the runner lights stay on after you park?!
congrats...
did you place the front plate? if so how does it look?
My car in in port of exit, still waiting for my baby. i ordered a silverstone coupe but do not know if i should put the front plate. I am in DC-VA and cops are simply looking for an excuse to pull over.

Regarding the "rough ride," do you have 18's or 19's? 18's ride quite a bit smoother. As you said, check the tire pressure. If they are 8-10 psi too high, then you will definitely notice it if you drop them back down to where they need to be.

Thanks everyone!

Here are the pictures. Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into the tire pressure and see if that's the culprit. Take a look at the new car below..

You can see in the pics, I did indeed put a front plate. It's required in NY too, and my CA said they're quite strict here (especially in the suburbs). More than 1 violation and that's grounds for having your vehicle towed. It looks ok - not terrific but I'll deal with it . Doesn't seem to constrict airflow to the engine much, so it's certainly not a performance issue.

FYI - silverstone is an awesome color. I hate silver but the m3 silverstone color is just so alluring..

Congrats man, I know the feeling! You must be thrilled. I have yet to see Jet Black in person so we will all be expecting extensive picture-taking when your car arrives. I am absolutely in love with Fox Red - the rumors are true, pictures fail to do justice, it is simply gorgeous. It's a tad flashy, but in my opinion the nicest interior color. FYI good call on the carbon trim, it will match very nicely.

Thanks so much guys! This forum's been an incredible reference and place to vent during this arduous wait, so I appreciate all the positive remarks. I don't know how I would have dealt with the anxiety without my fellow M3 orderers. Anyway, I hope the pictures and my post convert yet another potential car buyer to the //M side. Once you go //M, you never go back...ok, enough lame puns
