Congrats! Who was your SA at Concord BMW? That's where I picked up my car as well.
I know exactly what you mean when you say the M3 feels like it has no power compared to the 335i. But it's definitely just a result of you babying the car during the break-in. The car does pull like a freight train above 5-6k rpms, but it's no slouch in the lower rpms either when you are at WOT. And if you are driving with your throttle response set to normal, that plus babying the car makes the car feel really lazy and slow. Steering sensitivity at low speeds is definitely lighter than the 335i. But at speed, it's much tighter, especially with servotronic set to sport. The 335i steering feels way too light at speed.

After break in you will have a whole new view of your M3, in regards to the sound system, play around with your equalizer and you will find the right tone for your ear. I was the same way when I first picked up my car but after tweeking the equalizer a couple of times I got it dialed in and now it is fantastic and the upgrade was worth every cent.

"MPG instant readout
Where is it? I ready the manual from cover to cover, can't find it anywhere. What gives?" It's been replaced by the current speed readout. I was looking for it myself, got used to it in couple of E92 335i I drove since 2006.

ha! i was just going to spin off another thread asking why my wheels are silver. i'd definitely prefer gunmetal with IB. the color makes the wheels look completely different. it's not bad but i had just wanted something darker to go with the blue.

don't have the final price on me but it was just shy of $70k with all fees and taxes with 9.75% sales tax + $1,300 gas guzzler tax, the final price was considerably higher than the sale price.

that's what it was in my 335i but the M3 for some reason removed that option. from the supplementary manual, page 35: Quote:

my experience with him getting the 335i was nothing short of spectacular though. i won't get into the details but i must say, the M3 delivery was a bit underwhelming. i expected fireworks and got firecrackers instead. i'd still highly recommend him though.

Congrats on the ///M!! Love the color combo.
Where do you plan on taking the M3 for its service work? Back to BMW Concord? How is their service dept. reputation? I bought mine from Niello in Sacramento and was thinking about taking it back there but that would be a good 45 minute to 1 hr drive for me just for a service appointment. Or there is always Weatherford in Berkeley but that itself is a 30 to 45 minute (just like BMW Concord for me) commute altogether also. I figured I'd take it back to Niello (due to familiarity) since I've gone through them for the order/purchase of the car and my SA there was a cool guy to work with.

Congrats, and I still dont know why people buy the 335 when they WANT a m3. For your next vehicle skip all of the shit you dont really want and buy what you want first

Thanks for your honest review!
Your color combination is awesome. Did you get the wood trim? Looks nice. I have been going back and forth about trading up to a M3. What keeps pulling me back is the fact that I almost never get the opportunity to rev a car. (That, plus the fact that the M3 retails between 90 and 100K here in Canada, *before* our 13% tax gets added on). And I really like the heavy steering of my 335i; it's one of the things I like most about this car. I would love to be able to own the (last) naturally aspirated M3 though (as I prefer naturally aspirated engines), and experience driving it fast, taking corners and revving it up to redline, over and over again. I think, under those conditions, a 335i could not even come close. Sadly, I do not think I would be able to take advantage of the M3's unique talents with how I would use the car... Please keep us posted, especially on how you feel after the break-in period.

BUT, and this is only my theory about what had happened, during my last maintenance service, i believe one of their technicians dented my front bumper. i was about to sell the car and so the only place i had the car was my garage. i had someone look at the car on sunday when the car was completely clean. after i drove it back after the maintenance on monday, the dents were in the bumper. again, i don't want to accuse anyone but i'm 95% sure it was weatherford. i can update you once i go to concord.

maybe i'll need to start collecting people's EQ settings and try them out one by one. i traditionally like the V shaped curve with mids being set somewhere in the middle.
what i'm missing, mainly when listening to the radio (HD), is the body, the umph. it's like someone put a thick blanket over each speaker. not only that but the sound signature is so awkward to me that it almost makes my eyes water. i agree that the louder it gets, the better it sounds but i've always considered the quality of a speaker system based on how it can perform over a wide range of input signals and volumes. this guy just doesn't do it for me, especially at $1,900.
