As for the damage, when I see this kind of thing, it makes me want to puke/smack the perps around. Luckily for my new baby, I work in a place with a fairly high level of physical security. It wouldn't be impossible to do, but I think it would be pretty unlikely . . .

Good luck, OP, and keep us posted.

Best info is still that CF Roof cannot be repaired due to not quite being able to match resin repair with original resin (resin in the CF, not the clear coat). Most shops would probably try to repair it but this shops advises against it and that advise may come directly from the BMW repair center at the Port near Oxnard (where cars are repaired to exact factory standards if damaged in transit). This means debonding the roof from the car cleaning all adhesive off of the metal frame and rebonding a new roof with the special jig on loan from BMW (again from BMW at the port in Oxnard).

Thats the downside to working with CF vs metal..just much more complex and costly of a repair..Hang in there..

swamp2, you are taking this like a champ. Have you gone to get a 2nd opinion on the roof repair? May be worth it. Out of curiosity, which bodyshop are you going through?

Thats def the bright side of things. Hopefully they dont complain too much about buying a new Eisenmann Race exhaust for me.

Although im worried there may be engine damage now, there is a slight clicking noise at idle from the engine. Maybe im just paranoid though

It seriously is. Im not a snob or anything but I always cringe when I am around a bunch of beaters with the drivers talking on their cell phones. I have to pull out evasive manuevers to separate myself from the pack of idiots constantly.

Turns out it was a beat up 90's Honda that took out my ///M today.

Who woulda thought??!!

Have you tried a detailer yet? Not that I think these will buff out. Well, not all of them, but a good detailed wold be able to fill the scratches then wetsand before polishing. I've seen some scratches down to the metal that were repaired this way. It would be extensive and might not fix all of the scratches, but if it saves from having to fix ALL the panels I think it's worth investigating.

^Thanks but these scratches are deep. I like the repair philosophy of my shop as well - 1. As good or better than OEM and 2. Can not perceive the car was ever repaired. Those simply are not achievable in any way with a detail/correction/buff/etc.

Still no ETA for getting the car into the shop but it sounds like it is getting close...

Believe it or not, but I've actually seen similar results from a GOOD detailer.

Way back in 2001, my Cosmos Black E36 M3 was keyed all around down to the paint. I had the car completely stripped down to bare metal and reprimered and repainted, with appropriate baking. Came out great, but was $14k, 11 years ago.

Fast forward to 2005 and my E46 M3 gets scratched on the hood, while at the dealership for it's 1200 mile service. Similar, down to the metal and thought I would need to get to get it repainted. I didn't want a repaint on a brand new car, so I let a good detailer fill, wet sand and buff the car.

It looked fantastic and was invisible... and you could never tell with a paint meter, which is what was important to me.

If you trust your shop, you're probably doing the right thing, I just haven't found that many that I really trust.

All I can say is I feel your sorrow, I had my two vehicles keyed a few years ago. A few day and weeks apart I started noticing different key marks on my vehicles when parked over nights where I lived. Sleepless nights, parked vehicles on different streets to avoid them being keyed, staying out late night after night in my brothers car to catch the person responsible . I finally found out that there was a guy in the building that was keying my cars because he did not like me for what ever reason I don't know, long story short when I confronted him and almost went to jail, my car was never keyed again. Then I finally decided to move. So yes I feel your pain.
