Ms excel knowers PLEASE HELP.

Quick question hope you guys can help! Example:

A2 is empty... So when i put a number in their i want the other colomn to give me the answer to this -5%X5%-30... SO i put it in but it get a bunch of jiberish. When i do it in my calculater it's correct but on EXCEL it's wrong. Can someone please tell me how to right it in the box. Here is exactly what i put under the the box 3A.

=A2-5%*55%-30 <--THat's what i'm putting in. IN A2 i have 1000. the answer in A2 should read, 519.97, but it's giving me another number because i think i need to add parenthesees or something please help. i got the =a2 part but that's about it. So pretty much what i want is, whatever is in a1 to subtract5% then multiply it by 55% and subract 30. Please HELP!

type this exactly how it's displayed below into cell A3

=(((A2-5%)*55%)-30)

Make sure cell A3 is being displayed in number format. The way to check for that is to put the cursor on A3 and then go along the top and select "format- cells-number tab-number"

you should get 519.97 if the value in cell A2 is 1000.

Ok sorry. I did it and even though you guys were correct it's not giving me the numbers i'm looking for simply because i believe i have to organise it differently. Pretty much here is the example number i want to use with the answer. please help me figure out how to word it out to get this answer.

EXAMPLE:

7000-5%(350)=$6,650.00

$6,650.00*55%=3657.50 -30.00= ANSWER $3,627.50

Hope this is understandable. If you guys organize the work as you did (correct way) my answer would be what i got before, but i guess i'm looking for this type of answer. What would be the forumla. Sorry to bother.

first of all, 5% of 350 is 17.5 therefore 7000-5%(350)=$6982.50 not $6650.00

therefore your ANSWER should be = $3810.375

using this formula:

=(((7000-(0.05*350))*0.55)-30)

[hint: 0.05 = 5% and 0.55 = 55%]

I know that. I mean that 7000 Minus by 5% is supposed to be 6650. The way i got that is. 5% of 7000 is 350. So if 350 is 5% of 7000 then i want to subtract 350 from 7000. I didn't mean 5% of 350. I used the () to let you know that 5% of 7000 is 350.

So in other words:
7000-350 =$6,650.00..... Because 350 is 5% of 7000.

$6,650.00*55%=3657.50 -30.00= ANSWER $3,627.50

So that is why i would like a formula to give me 7000 MINUS 5% EQUALS ANSWER.... and ANSWER to be MULTIPLIED by 55% and MINUS 30 to give me that 3,627.50 i have up their.

ok so far i got half way thru.

7000-(7000*5%) So far that gave me the answer of 6650 which is 5% of 7000.

Now all i need to do is somehow multiply the total (6650) by 55% and minus 30 to give me the total of 3627.50.
But when i multiply by 55% it gives me an error!
