Seat Back Monitoring Malfunction?

Anyone ever gotten this?

I don't see how I could get it... the seats work fine...fold back fine...they operate normally

Plus one. I suspect this has to do with passenger side airbag sensor??

Never seen that message before! Do you have the split/folding rear seats? Perhaps they are not latched correctly or a sensor is bad, telling you it is not properly latched...

Probably something wrong with the 'active headrest' crap. Glad my '08 doesn't have that . Don't remember if it appeared in '09 or '10. If headrests can't tilt, they have that crap. Time to take the car to a dealer . Good luck.

when you pinned back that hooker down on your passenger seat, you broke your seat back.

seriously, I don't know why...seems like rather odd message.

On the e93, the seat belts are in the seat back, so you must have it latched. There is a sensor there. Try unlatching both seats and then latching them back, if not, you get to pay a visit to the dealer!

Did that

I also don't have rear folding seats as this is a convertible

I emailed my SA to set an apt for this coming week.

I haven't driven my car today, so I don't know if it disappeared or not..(I've had codes come and go in my BMWs in the past)

But yeah, I tried to search but nothing regarding this on the e93... strange...

My top is also acting up again. fun.

I think I've taken my e93 in every month for a convertible top issue....
Good thing the dealer is only a few minutes away

While you don't have rear folding seats, the convertible has the option of rear folding seats for the ski bag pass-through with the cold weather package.

At any rate, I've had a similar error before and it had to do with either front seat not being pushed back all the way. Oh well, kind of a moot point now as it's at the dealer.

I moved the seat in every way possible, unhatched it, etc etc

I know the rear thingy folds down, played with that too

It's ok, I needed my Top serviced too.

My top tends to get stuck after every track day, needs some lubricants (TWSS lol)

Plus I needed my tech to check the under carriage after I spin out

All the convertibles have rear folding seats. The option was just the passthrough bag.

When I think of rear folding seat I think like in the E92 where you can access the trunk

You cannot access the trunk when you fold the top over of the rear seats down...

Otherwise I'd have no problem fitting rims and tires and wouldn't have to keep borrowing cars

I wish he caught the drift before it. We were going sideways pretty good until I lost it at the end during the exit :/

I got the car back

They said that they can't figure out what to do...and there's no service bulletin or anything with BMW and they've never seen my problem...

so they said if it comes back to come back in immediately...

wow thats helpful... I would not have accepted that answer.... but then again, what can you do? take it to a different dealer next time when it happens after they cant fix this problem for a second time.

good luck.

Well since it's in the records, if anything happens again they have to fix it...and if they can't fix it...and it happens again...well that's 3 problems :P

Since the car through the fault and it was stored and read, they can't say I'm BSing.

So it went off now? I was under the impression that it had come on and you could not get it to turn off.

I get that icon (or at least, I think that's the one) when I drive off with the front passenger seat still folded forward after the kids get in the back. So basically it is telling you that one of your seats is not properly latched. Point being, if its off, you probably corrected whatever the issue was. For example maybe something was obstructing the seat's movement and causing it not to latch properly. Or, possibly it could be a faulty sensor in which case it may come back.

You sure the error you get is a malfunction?

The error I think you're referring to is red and says it's not secure.

This happened on the passenger side btw, and my girl only weighs about 110lbs... so yeah lol.

It went away after the dealer cleared the faults.
