Hope they do the 45 minute end of day session again like they did at SMMR in December. That was an eye opener and a first for me. Many things change after about 35 min to say the least

Don't you HAVE to be there??
Any chance of a car control clinic in the future? Time for the wife to learn to drive better. .

I registered for the PCA event @ SMMR on 9/13-14 instead. You should consider it as well especially if you're coming from LV.

I wanna do both. 2 tracks in 3 days. Big track weekend. Reminds me of Texas Trifecta from march. It'll make up for my July/August downtime. Should be a fun weekend

im signing up for this.
car control? you can practice on turn 5 and turn 9 some throttle steer and power oversteer. turns 12-13-14 or whatever it is you can try to connect drifts to The Hack would an instructor or corner workers get mad if a driver did this? of course after i let everyone pass so i dont hold them up during the second half of sessions. and if you run in the A group, can you get a couple laps i. with an instructor? OP you in the fire orange? |

We (BMW CCA LA) run a pretty tight ship...And track surfaces surrounded by walls aren't exactly the best place to "practice" the skills, not when you have a passenger onboard.
The A+ program is reserved for people who have had A+ experience in the past or are recommended by their prior CCA instructor to move up to A+. If you've never driven with any of the Pacific Region schools in the past, you likely won't be placed in A+. It's just the way we run things.

I don't remember if I was recommended to move up to A+ after the last event, but isn't there a drive a lap sign off or something like that in the beginning? The A+ group also seems to have a wide range of experience from pros to students with varying levels of experience who have been signed off to drive alone. Anytime I go to the track its to learn something, practice something. we are not racing here. That being said, I could use one session (or just a couple laps) for suggestions and then practice on my own rather than being stuck in traffic at some point in time. Will also use the classroom sessions to talk about my observations / get suggestions on different things. walls? i don't see any. |

I am signed up. Haven't driven on this track yet, so I'm really looking forward to it. The videos I've seen show that main straight to be crazy fast. So I'll be setting a personal speed record in my car for sure.

When you sign up, I can see in the log book what your LAST CCA instructor recommended for your next run group. If he/she recommended A+ I would have no problem with their recommendation and if you wish to run in A+, I will make it so.
I can certainly touch base with Randy and see if he will recommend you. But you probably need to sign up first before I will do anything.

USC and his rocket ship with sticky tires would need to be in A+ or he'll he torturing the B guys all day.
The CCA usually runs a chicane or gate at the end of the straits to get you down low on the track to set you up better for the big banked turn. It's a fun track with lots of turns and straights.

PM me your details (First/Last/Car driven @ last Pacific Region CCA event) and I'll see if I can look up your log book. Sorry you would think I should know, but I'm terrible with faces/people.
