I have noticed a lot of 2008 carbon leather trims faded thus not looking right. So I would want to go with a newer one.

Plus some folks like the 2009+ trims with the silver around the light switch and start buttons.

I have a 2010 trim on my 08. Fits fine. Yeah no fitment issues, only fading issues.
